So my dad lost his license a few months ago because he had too many demerit points.
He is adamant that if anyone put in as much mileage as he does, they'd have even more demerit points than he does. He went to prove his point by stating he had racked up 22 points over the course of 200 000 km. Based on his theory, I told him DH and I should each have 6 points or so right now but we have none. His response was "I wouldn't have as many points if I stuck close to home, too - I know where all the police traps are and can easily avoid them".
You know, because it's all about knowing where the police are hiding, waiting to spring on you, and NOT about, I don't know, obeying the law.

Did he get his license back?
He's supposed to be getting it back soon-ish. I would say I hope he learned his lesson, but it is pretty clear to me that he didn't. *sigh*
Does he get stopped for speeding or other stuff?
He just follows the rules when HE feels they make sense. For instance, if there are a few people ahead of him stopped at a stop sign, and no one coming the other way, he might not actually make a stop come his turn and will just go right after the car in front of him. Because you know, he was "stopped" long enough to see there was no one coming, so why would he stop again. He just won't accept the fact that the rules apply to everyone, himself included.
Haha, this sounds exactly like my H, he got 3 speeding tickets in 1 month on THE SAME road. Totally not his fault though, "the limit they set is ridiculous & unrealistic." Somehow though I've managed not to get any tickets on the same road...
