Hello everyone,
My husband wants our son to be a junior but I want him to have my last name.
My husband's last name is Arauz and mine is Subiria. If our child's name is Pierre David Arauz Subiria, could I still make him a junior or will he be the II?
Thoughts, ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Junior or II
OK, thanks so much!
Neither.
The two names would have to be identical to be a Junior/II. In your case, you've got your maiden name in there, too, so they're not the same name.
FYI-Give serious thought about this... I've known quite a few men who run into problems when they get mistaken for their father and vice versa. It sometimes gets confusing on paperwork, etc.

My understanding has always been that a II is the second person in the family with the same name: FN MN LN Sr.;FN MN LS Jr or FN MN LN II

I thought in order to be considered a Junior or II you had to have the exact same name. I thought the child would be known as a Junior until Senior passed away and then the Junior then became II. Nevertheless, it's confusing....
If you use your last name and your husband's, it's technically not the same name. Therefore, it's a stretch to use Jr. or II.
This.
