I am also done having kids. We have two and that is perfect for us.
I have decided to get my tubes tied. My dh will not have his procedure and I don't feel comfortable with having anything implanted in me. Besides if i know that I'm done then I would rather have 1 procedure and be done. With an iud you will need to have it removed after a certain amount of years.
No real experience with this yet but like you I think we are probably done having kids. Since we are not 100% to no more kids, I am not ready to make permanent changes. I am getting the mirena IUD on Wednesday. I like that you don't have your period on it
I turned down getting my tubes tied during my section with DS -- I'm not comfortable with altering my body like that. At the same time, I don't relish having an implant. I'm not concerned about having it removed in 10 years, but I am freaked about it migrating.
but we hate condoms, and I don't like the hormones with the pill or Mirena.
That is why it's such a crazy decision for me too. I don't want to take the pill. Dh will not wear a condom. I don't want an implant. And I really don't want to have anymore kids. When we decided to have our second it only took 2 tries so I can get pregnant very easily. lol
I'm a little nervous about getting my tubes tied too though!
I recently had the paragard inserted and so far so good. Its wasnt painful and I love that there are no hormones and that it lasts up to 10 years. I have had a blood clot in my head from hormonal birth control, am pretty sure I am allergic to most condoms, and got preggo the first time on spermacide. The paragard was my only option and I am really glad I got it.
i've used both the paraguard the mirena in the past, before i had ever been pregnant. i choose the paraguard bc it was hormone free but i had awful terrible cramps on it with my period 100x stronger than before and at some point it started slipping out of my cervix. it was probably a combo of it not being places correctly me not ever having a foreign object in my uterus that caused the terrible cramping issues but i was too freaked out to try it again.
i got the mirena after the recommendation of several friends who used it. i usef it for 5 years before getting pregnant and i LOVED it. after one day of mild cramping after insertion and a few 3 months of light spotting i quit spotting, never had a period, and felt that the hormones it is low dose, slow release progesterone only were so low well released that i NEVER noticed any side effects.
my OB/GYN is inserting my new mirena at my 6 week appt i'm pretty excited about it.
