NBFR but Pregnant Related Question

I know this isn't the right board, but I hardly visit any others.

When you first got pregnant, did anyone experience implantation bleeding? Or any spotting at all before you knew you were pregnant?

Reason I ask, I am always very regular about everything, from premenstrual symptoms to flow. But Tuesday morning I noticed light pink spotting. It has continued off and on, sometimes light pink, sometimes darker like I am starting my period. But I am not due to start my period until the end of next week. I took a pregnancy test, and it was negative. But I am wondering if it might have just been too early to tell. I told myself I will take another if things are not normal by the end of next week when I am supposed to start. But the wait is killing me.

We are not trying to get pregnant, do not want another baby right now, and I have been consistently on the pill and even used condoms when on antibiotics. But I am freaking out here.

I am due for my annual PAP at the end of March, so I am thinking as long as I don't show a positive test I will wait to go to the doctor.

And on top of my private stress, the kids have said they want another sibling, MIL said she wants another grandbaby, and all my ILs at DH's cousin's baby shower today said I need to have a girl soon for everyone. So I am really just overthinking all of this probably, but DH doesn't even want to talk about it. He is scared to death really. This is soooo not what we need right now.

Re: NBFR but Pregnant Related Question

  • I had some implantation bleeding with DD, but I have also had random mid-cycle spotting without being PG (I assume ovulation related). I believe there are many reasons for spotting, so I wouldn't freak out on that alone. Just wait it out til your period is due.

  • I had implantation bleeding. I didn't know what it was then but I do now. I didn't test until a day before my missed period and it was negative. I knew I was pregnant because my boobs hurt so I took another a few days later and it was positive. I really hope things turn out how you want them to.

I thought it could be ovulation related because of the timing, but I have honestly never had symptoms of ovulation before and have never known when I am ovulating. So I think it is unlikely this would cause it. But it could be.
  • With my pregnancy with DS, I actually experienced spotting (what I guess was implantation bleeding). I had been charting to get pregnant my cycles had been short since I had the miscarriage 3 months prior. I actually tested as as last draw before I was going to contact my doctor because it had only been 2.5 weeks since my last period and having short cycles is bad for trying to get pregnant. I was shocked when I got a very faint BFP. I immediately contacted my doctor and we started blood tests to follow my levels up for a few weeks. I ended up having sporadic spotting and bleeding with him all the way until around 24 weeks which was scary considering my prior loss.

  • I spotted for about 7-ish weeks with my first pregnancy. I started spotting right around the time my period was due so I didn't think much of it. However, I continued spotting for weeks afterward. I never even thought that I could be pregnant (I had never even heard of implantation bleeding yet at that point). I finally went to my doctor to see what was going on with me and she took a test. Sure enough, I was pregnant. I miscarried 10 days after finding out that I was pregnant. It obviously wasn't meant to be and that's why I was spotting all along. I've since heard about implantation bleeding a lot more since being pregnant a second time (I didn't experience it this time) and have heard that it should only last a day or two.

I would wait until you're due and test again. I hope the end result is what you're hoping for.

  • I did have implantation bleeding with each pregnancy and it was just as you described.

Am going to send you a PM with some info you might find helpful.

  • Could be implantation bleeding or could just be a side effect of your pill, or that your cervix is irritated.

Try to stay calm.  If your period doesn't show, just take another test (I always recommend the digital ones, especially when you're freaked out so there's no ambiguity "is this a line?  or is this my mind playing evil tricks?").  And you can always ask for a test at your dr appt if you're not totally convinced.

    Yes

I didn't get implantation bleeding with either of my pregnancies.  It sounds to me like you have multiple methods of BC so it could be mid cycle spotting or an irritated cervix.  I think your plan to wait a few days and test again is a great idea.  If it were implantation bleeding, you would be able to turn a HPT a week after.  GL and FX

  • I never had implantation bleeding with my pregnancies, but when I was taking BC pills I had spotting sometimes in the middle of a cycle.

If you are being super careful it is probably just related to the BC or something else.  If your period isn't due until the end of next week, it seems super early to be implantation bleeding anyway.  Implantation bleeding is around 1 week after ovulation.
