I took my son out to experience snow for the first time today. We were outside my home for 5 mins max to take pictures and the first few mins I sat him down in a snowsuit without mittens so he could touch snow for the first time. I put two pictures up on Facebook and two people wrote a comment asking where his mittens were and that his fingers must have been freezing. This really upset me, that anyone would think that I was neglecting my son in any way. What do you guys think? Was I wrong??

Re: Am I a terrible mother?
This is why I don't post pictures of DS on Facebook. If I want to share photos of DS with family and friends, I use old-fashioned email or a password protected share site. Then I can control who sees it and let them know exactly what is going on in the picture.
This is what we do too.
I did the same thing today (minus the photos) with DD. She didn't care at all about the snow, but I'm sure it doesn't make us bad mothers.

When I take her on an outing by car, I never put mittens on her because they would just fall off and she's only outside for half a minute anyway. It's not going to kill her. When we go for walks, she is bundled up in a snow suit with built in mittens.
I would just write on your facebook, "I was letting her touch the snow for a new experience", or you can write nothing at all. People are idiots if they think you'd have her out for a long time like that.

"For those who inquired, Matt's fingers are still perfect and free of frostbite after today's two minutes in the snow."
I got many Likes and a few people apologized privately. I just had to say it.
Good for you. Maybe they'll think next time they decide to judge a mom for something ridiculous
