As far as working out It is actually encouraged. You might want to check with the Dr on in regard to heart rate. I still do everything I did before lift, push ups, sit ups squats lunges and run:
You may eventually have to modify certain things but If you worked out prior to pregnancy you will be fine during.

This. Just don't start any major new exercise. Like, if you've never done P90x, don't start it and don't start weight lifting. But if you're already doing it, you can continue but listen to your body. You'll probably get to a point where sit ups will be uncomfortable, for example.
And keep in mind that all your muscles and tendons are loosening to accommodate the growth of the baby. So, it becomes much easier to pull something. Don't overdo it!
Exercise is very healthy for the baby. I ran on the treadmill until the day I went into labor with my son. But like everyone said, don't overdo it. Definitely listen to your body and slow down when you need to.
Whatever you were doing before (within a sensible limit) is normal, ie: if you were a moderate jogger before you can still do it. Weightlifter - may want to reduce that and do it under careful instruction.
But if you were not doing these activities before but you're looking to stay fit and healthy, now is not the time to pick these activities up. So mild-moderate are fine: swimming, water aerobics, walking, yoga, stretches, etc

My Dr told me to try and exercise at least 3x per week, and that cardio is okay as long as your heart rate stays down and I don't get too warm. He recommended using the elliptical, swimming or doing yoga, and said to avoid any exercise that directly uses muscles in my abdomen during my first trimester. Husband and I have been taking 35 mile walks on the weekend when weather allows and that's been great so far!
