STM+: After birth to do list

I'm trying to make a to do list so that I will remember all of the important things that need to be done shortly after the baby is born.  So far, here's what I have:

1.  Add baby to health insurance

2.  Email work

3.  Schedule 1st pediatrician visit (I know the hospital typically contacts them to come while you're in the hospital but I was also told to contact the pediatrician's office directly to schedule their first actual office visit after we leave the hospital.)

4.  Schedule newborn photos

What am I missing?

    No one told me I had to go pick up a birth certificate from the city! I just assumed it would be mailed to me, nope! They do send the Social Security card though.

    DH and I do not have life insurance yet and the company would not write a policy with me being pregnant so that is on my list but you might already have this covered.

    We actually had to tell the hospital the date of our pedi appointment for discharge purposes.  Just fyi. 

    Aside from that, I feel like you have everything covered!  I soooo don't remember, though, so I'm sure there's things I'm not thinking of.

    SS Card and birth certificate all depend on where you live- in my area you fill out the BC information and it gets certified there.  The BC is ready to pick up downtown in about 10 days and then you have to bring that to the SSA office to get a SS Card.  Also, call your OB to schedule your follow up appointment.  Cancel any appointments you may have that you won't be attending (for example, I have OB appointments scheduled until 39 weeks and a pedi appointment scheduled for my older son that I may have to reschedule).  DH's university offers a $500 scholarship if one parent is an alum and they put your birth announcement in their newsletter- so he does that after the baby is born for us.
