Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What's your 7 month old's day look like?

I know "every baby's different" but I'm just curious what your 7 month old typically does in a day food/bottle/nap-wise.

DS usually takes 5 bottles, 3 naps, and does solids twice.

He is up between 7:00/7:30 at which point he gets his prevacid for reflux.  First bottle of the day (8oz) is around 8am.  He'll do solids around 9:00/9:30, and down for a nap typically around 10.  He'll get his next bottle (6oz) around 11:30/12:00 and is usually ready for his next nap by 1:00/1:30.  He gets another bottle (6oz) around 3:00 and will typically take a short nap again around 4 or 5pm.  He gets his prevacid sometime around 5pm depending on naps, and another bottle (6oz) around 6:00pm.  We'll do solids around 6:30.  We always offer him a bottle before bed (6oz) but he doesn't always want it all.  Between all 32 ounces offered to him in a day he typically takes anywhere from 26-30 ounces of it between those bottles.  He's asleep by 8:00/8:30.

I feel like he gets SO much intake in the evening hours, but that also seems to be when he's hungriest so I guess it's fine, lol.

Re: What's your 7 month old's day look like?

  • My son is 8 months, but has had this schedule for the past couple weeks pretty much so I thought I would respond:

    • 630ish - wakeup for daycare...sometimes till 730 on the weekend. Nurses when he wakes up, not sure amount
    • 830 - solids and a 5oz bottle of BM
    • 900ish -1000ish nap for an hour
    • Noonish - solids and a 5 oz bottle of BM
    • 1ish - 2ish nap for an hour
    • 330-4ish - 5 oz bottle of BM
    • We pickup from daycare between 430-5, and as soon as he gets home he wants to nurse. He will sometimes nurse twice before bed, but usually just once
    • Bed routine begins around 6
    • Asleep around 630

**he JUST started taking good naps at daycare. He was only taking two 20-min naps on most days, therefore most nights could barely make it past 530 to go to bed.  With his better naps, we've been able to pleasantly make it to 630 bedtime.  Also, we will be adding a third solids meal in the next couple of weeks.

**Usually each of his solids meals consist of about 2TBSP oatmeal + 3-4 ounces of puree.  He often will have a snack at daycare in the afternoon, usually a half a banana or some avacado.

  • Our schedule is almost exactly the same as OP except LO only gets 1 dose of Prevacid daily and always finishes all 5 bottles so 30 oz of formula per day.

  • DS wakes up around 7:30 at which point I let him play in his crib for about 10 minutes while I get his clothes ready and a few other things together.

At 8:00 he has his morning bottle of 6oz and then will watch some baby Einstein either while he plays on the floor or in his jumper.

At 9:00 he eats his breakfast which is about 4 oz of solids, oatmeal and fruit or yogurt and fruit

By 10:00 he is ready for his first nap which is 60-90 minutes. At which point we play on the floor and read some books

At noon he has his 2nd bottle of 6 oz

Then we play more or use this time to go run some errands

He's usually ready for nap number 2 around 2:30 and can sleep until 4:00 which is when he'll eat his 3rd bottle of 6oz.

At 5:30 we have dinner of a veggie and a fruit of 4oz and then we play and have more floor time or he sits in the kitchen and plays on the floor while I clean up and do dishes.

He gets his bath between 7-7:30 then eats his bedtime bottle of 6oz and is down for the night between 8 and 8:30 at the latest.

Of course things change on a day to day basis but he eats 24oz in bottles and about 8oz in solids (with some finger food snacks mixed in throughout the day) Sometimes he takes 3 naps, but he mostly just takes 2.

  • We have no schedule and nap time is a battle.

I am so impressed with all of you!

No idea how to stick to a schedule, we kind of just go with the flow , and every day is different.

  • DD wakes about 6:30-7:00

    7:00 6oz bottle

8:00 Solids oatmeal and fruit mix

9:30-10:00 ish Nap.* I lay her down and she puts herself to sleep. Her naps range from 45 mins to 1.5hr.

When she gets up about 11:00 we have 6oz bottle.

12:00 Solids fruit and a veggie or yogurt and a veggie

    1:30-2:00 ish Nap.

    3:00 6 oz bottle

4:00 Solids fruit and a veggie

    5:00 bath

6:30 sometimes we do a few bites of rice cereal followed by a 6 oz bedtime bottle

    7:00 Asleep for the night

Maybe LO is hungrier in the evening because hes ready for a lunchtime solids? We recently added lunch and I could tell she was ready because we could barely make it to 4 because she was so hungry. But she loves her solids and to eat like a big girl that's why I do her bottle an hour before hand other wise she has little interest in it. At mealtimes we also do puffs and a sippy cup of water mostly for practice.

  • DS is 8 months but his routine has been pretty consistent

    7:30am-8am wakeup and Nurse

Play on the floor while I make and eat my breakfast

9am - eat breakfast (usually oatmeal or fruit)

Play alone or with me until sometime between 10-11am when he starts showing signs of needing a nap. I nurse him to sleep.

    12-1pm wakeup.

If I'm planning to go out of the house this is when we go. probably 5/7 days we get out somewhere.

    3pm-4pm naptime

Play with dh while I make supper/chill

5:30pm family dinner. He gets veggies and meat components of what we're having usually.

    6pm bathtime

6:30pm, play with his dad for 15mins while I get his room ready and everything I need for bedtime routine

6:45pm bedtime routine starts: massage, story time, songs and nurse to sleep

    7:45pm asleep in crib

Nevermind me, I'm too distracted by my mini-carrots to think properly image
