Colorado Babies

This week's GTKY (week of 2/4/13)

Sorry for the delay, things have been a little busy around here in the office.

For this week's GTKY, I thought I'd change it up a little, so here goes:

If you are NOT a Colorado native, what brought you here? If you ARE, what makes you love it so much you don't want to leave?

  • I am NOT a native to Colorado by any means. I'm originally from Hawaii, but moved from California (San Francisco to be exact) almost 3 years ago now. We moved out here because both myself and my husband were getting tired of the fast-paced, always need to be out and partying scene in SF.

We chose CO because DH's sister lives here, we can drive to Iowa (where he's from) to visit his family, and we can still get a direct flight to Hawaii to see my family.

    Your turn!

  • I am not a native but I might as well be.  I have been here for 20 years (moved here when I was 16).  I moved from Southern CA and you couldn't pay me enough money to live there again.  I hope we never have to leave Colorado.

  • We pretty much moved here because we didn't want to raise our family in Jacksonville FL where I am originally from. We came to Colorado on our honeymoon - we stayed at The Stanley in Estes Park and went skiing in Winter Park, and that was when our love affair with Colorado began. After having my last daughter, my husband started looking for work out here, got the job, and here we are, happy as ever!

  • I am not a native either.  I grew up in SW Nebraska so we were in CO a lot.  Migrated to Kansas City then Mid-Missouri then Kansas and finally to Colorado.  We moved here to take over a family business.  LOVE it out here, always have.  First time since I was a kid that I feel like I'm at home!!!
  • I am a CO native actually! All of my family is here, so it would be nearly impossible to leave, but we love it anyway. We love hiking, camping, and the mountains, but Denver is also a great city with awesome restaurants, a fun music scene, etc. we have it all! Plus some wildfires unfortunately

I have lived here off and on for about 15 years. My parents got divorced when I was four and we set sails for the Mainland! What I love about Colorado is the seasons- I'm not the biggest fan of winter but I enjoy the capability it offeres to be so active outdoors during the summer, fall, spring, and winter. Specifically in Colorado Springs, I appreicate how family oreinted this town is, and if you want to visit monumental places the travel isn't too far.

  • Not a Colorado native.  Lived in Texas all my life until about 3 years ago.  We moved here when DH got a promotion.  I absolutely love Colorado Springs!  It is nice to have four seasons.  There is so much to do.  We love to hike, run, snowboard and just about anything outdoors although we haven't done any camping yet.  I'm not big on sleeping in a tent on the ground.  We did a few times in Texas and the heat, mosquitos and what not are horrendous so we haven't really tried camping here yet.  I love the amazing sunrises/sunsets every day and seeing Pikes Peak.  I hope to never move back and if I ever have to you will have to take me dragging and screaming.  LOL  I do miss having family and friends close by but I absolutely don't want to move back to Texas.

  • I am a native. My parents grew up here, and two of my grandparents. My husband and his parents are all natives too. He's in a family business, so we aren't going anywhere either. I love the four seasons, the activities, the people. I also think Denver is an awesome city, with so much to offer.

  • Not a native but may as well be! Spent lots of time in Colorado as a kid and my parents moved us here when I was 16 from Arizona. Went away for college but found myself back in Colorado right after graduation. Love it!

  • I haven't posted on this board yet, but am looking to get more active.

I am not a native, but moved down here almost 4 years ago. I'm originally from Wyoming and lived in Littleton for 5 months my last year of pharmacy school. We officially moved down after I graduated and got a job with the VA. We moved to NoCo 2.5 years ago and love it so much more!
