Bedtime earlier

My dd is 11 weeks. We do not have a schedule other than she eats every 3 to 4 hrs. Some days she eats 5 bottles and some days she eats 6 bottles.
The ideal time for bed is bottle around 9p and bed at 10p.
Tonight her 5th bottle was at 7:45p which is a little earlier than I would like but it's how her day went. So now I'm trying to lay her down for bed at 9p OR I treat it as a nap and do bed after her next bottle around 11p.
How do u handle when your LO is earlier than your ideal schedule?

Re: Bedtime earlier

  • We just treat it like it is and feed them when they wake up.

  • I would put her to bed now around her usual time. How do you know she'll want a bottle at 11? If you put her to bed now you could get lucky and she will sleep several hours longer.
  • I would just let her be and see if she wakes up.  My LO started STTN at a very young age and I think this had a lot to do w/ make her bedtime so early.  We start our routine around 630 and it down for the night by 715.  We started this at 4 weeks and have been consistent w/ it ever since.  It took a few weeks to drop the middle of the night feeding but eventually did.

  • I know this post was last night so my opinion doesn't help you much now, but I would just lay her down like it was bed time. If she wakes, feed her. If not, lucky you. With DS, I always felt like I had to feed him right before bed but I started realizing that wasn't really the case. Now with DD, if she's hungry at 7 but goes to bed at 8:30, it's fine with me and she still sleeps just as long. Don't feel like you have to be married to a certain routine. Babies adapt pretty well.

  • Well I decided to put her to bed. I didn't feel like staying up until 11p and as others said she might not even wake up to eat. That has happened to me before. So I put her to bed around 9p. She was a little fussy and didn't fall asleep until close to 9:30. I really thought she would be up once maybe even twice. AND to my surprise she slept all night!! She has sttn a bunch of times but this was the earliest bedtime bottle for her. She woke up this morning at 7:30 all smiles. 12 hrs since her last feeding.

On a side note she was moving around a lot around 4am and I was certain she was waking up. So I went downstairs and warmed a full bottle, got a diaper and when I got back to my room she was still asleep. I laid down thinking she will be up any minute since I will not dare wake her and she never woke up. So I wasted 6oz of formula but I'm happy she slept.
