I know it's early but I've been looking at strollers and I like the orbit g2 but man that is one pricey baby ride! I also like the peg perego strollers which are a little less pricey than the orbit. Anyways my question is, is it worth spending a lot on a stroller?
Re: Strollers
I think the decision to spend a lot or a little depends on how much you plan on using it. We use ours all the time. I went cheap the first time and ended up replacing it less than a year later with a Peg Perego Pliko P3. I love that stroller so much and will now be using it for my third baby. For us it was a great investment. (I know there has been a recall on it too, but we have received the repair piece in the mail and will be using it)
I would recommend the Baby Bargains book. They have a new edition coming out in April (if you can wait that long!). I love that book and I have been happy with every single one of my purchases that I made based on their recommendations. Some of the things I bought that they recommended against I really was displeased with.
Good luck!
You have to also consider how many extra stuff you have to buy. I don't particulary love the design of Orbit, and I am love with Stokke Xplory.
We went to one store to test drive different highend strollers, well they did not have Stokker, but showed us the Orbit and Uppa, once started adding up that I need to buy a separate car seat, a car seat adaptor if we were getting Uppa, it would be more expensive than Orbit. So we are leaning towards Orbit, now. But I am still in love with Stokke, coolest design ever!!
I think it's worth it if you plan to use your stroller a lot. Think carefully though about what is most important to you in a stroller before you buy something expensive. What type of terrain will you be on? Do you want a big basket? Do you need an adjustable handlebar? Will you be getting it in and out of the car a lot? These things will help you narrow down what strollers would be best for you. I'd suggest making a list of your must haves and go from there.
Also know that it's kind of hard to get by with only 1 stroller. We have a Vista which I love for walks and when we just need the full featured stroller but we are going to be getting something lightweight for in and out of the car soon because the Vista just takes up too much space and it's kind of heavy.
I was so set on the Stokke at first but my SO will be using the stroller most so I am lettin ghim choose and he is in love with the Orbit. It was hard for me to let it go, though. The Stokke is sooo cool!
Then someone bought me a City Mini as a gift and that became our go to stroller. It's lighter, easier to fold and just as easy to manuveur.
If money is no object, having a "fancy" stroller is great for a younger baby and you'll get a lot of use out of it. But once LO can sit up in an umbrella stroller, many moms find they're so much more practical. I'd also say that the more walking you plan to do in the early months, the more a "luxury" stroller will be worth the money.
Depends on your lifestyle. I went cheap withDD and got a travel system. I hated that thing and when I got pg with DS I had to have a double. I got a double (Kolcraft contours) and it was also just okay but I needed the stroller every day and sometimes DD didn't want to be in the stroller.
I sold everything and got a city select. It is a single stroller that can convert to a double. It can also be used with a car seat, convert to a bassinet, you can use a toddler riding board. It really is 3 strollers in 1 but the size of just a single stroller
if you plan to have more than one kid spaced less than 3 years apart invest your money on something more versatile. The orbit is nice and expensive but kids outgrow strollers and you will ultimately need something different when you have another.
**around 18 months old toddlers will resist the stroller but still need it for longer trips like the zoo, mall, or amusement parks. Also check out baby gizmo on YouTube. Holly Schultz reviews every stroller and puts kids of every age in the stroller.
