I made my first batch of lactation cookies tonight and I have a few questions:
How many do I have to eat in order to see a difference? I'm doing Weight Watchers and these little puppies are 3 points each so I am wondering how many I should plan to eat in a day.
When did you notice more milk? Did you feel fuller with regular feedings or just notice more milk when you pump (that is my goal)?
Do you know of any similar recipes that use oatmeal, flax and brewer's yeast?
Re: Lactation Cookie Question
I had to give up on weight loss while nursing. Each time I tried to cut calories my supply tanked. I'm bummed about not being able to drop the last 15 lbs but I'm willing to wait. If you don't see your milk level going up then I would suggest not trying to count calories (or points) for awhile, at least till you start offering solids.
I typically have 2 cookies each day I pump, sometimes 3.
This is the recipe that I use, which does include all 3 of those:

I also eat about 2 or 3 a day on days I work. I am not really restrictive on my calories though, just trying to lose the weight through exercise. I noticed that the above recipe doesn't have very much flax seed in it - I like this one because it has 1 cup flax and I usually throw in 4 tbsp of brewer's yeast.

I got sick of the cookies after like 3 full batches... But they seemed to work, I maybe noticed an extra ounce per pump session at work.... I'm also taking Fenugreek and drinking Mother's Milk tea.
I made this oatmeal this weekend... It's only 4 WW points per serving 3/4cup - Plus you could cut the butter and such and probably make it even healthier--- though it may be less yummy!
