For a girl? It's fine. It's a little bland for me, common. But I think if you love it, you should use it!
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Expecting again after IVF
I like it. It is a bit dated, but I like it anyways. I do think it ages well. One of my good friends is Shannon and it suits her into adulthood for sure.
I like it fine for a girl, but lately I've been crushing on it for a boy.
I've never met a male Shannon!
I know an adult male Shannon. I also know a female one and I like it better on a girl

I actually haven't met one either, but I'm familiar with it from Shannon Hoon and Shannon Sharpe. I like that it's normal yet unexpected for a boy. My DH would never, ever consider it if we did have a son - he hates having a name (Aaron) that can be misconstrued as a girl's name. But, I love it anyway.
For a girl, I like:
Shannon Victoria Shannon Marie Shannon Marissa Shannon Elizabeth (despite the actress) Shannon Alyssa Shannon Pearl Shannon Paige
I like it. I haven't heard of anyone under the age of 30 with that name, so I think it's due for a comeback! I know an equal number of male and female Shannons. I guess it was really popular for awhile because I know 6 of them!

Honestly, I think that this name is best suited for a golden lab and not a person. It's not particularly feminine or masculine and just doesn't seem to sound right.
I think Shannon is nice. I knew several (girl Shannons) in HS and college. It has a bit of an 80s feel to me, but names go out and come in, and Shannon is a lovely name that maybe should be on its way back in anyway.

Re: Shannon
Trying to put that aside, I do think Shannon is a pretty name and would age well.

Suited me well. My middle name is Eileen.
Personally, if it wasn't my name, I would never use it. It is not my style preference.
In terms of using it or a baby today, I do like that it is not that common.
I have known more male Shannons than female.
