Food Allergy

Switching formulas

I just recently switched my LO to a different formula bc of a mild milk allergy.  He has a rash on his face.  How long before I start to see improvement?

Re: Switching formulas

  • What did you switch to? I switched from Similac to Good Start then to GS soy then to Alimentum then to Neocate. The Similac made him constipated. GS regular made him have diarrhea. Then the GS soy he developed acid reflux and severe eczema. At that point, we were sent to a dermatologist and allergist. We first went to the dermatologist who suggested it was the formula. That night we switched to alimentum and there was a sight decrease in eczema. Then went to the allergist and he tested positive for milk & soy and put him on Neocate. He started getting better immediately. Also, watch what creams you use bc we used Aveeno thinking it was helping his eczema...NOPE he developed an oat allergy too.

So, depending on what you switched to, that ay be causing a reaction too. Good luck!

  • @Wendy... Thanks so much for your reply. We went from regular Enfamil to Good Start Gentle and now I noticed that he has reflux and his eczema is still there. So now we have two problems instead of one. I fee so bad. We go to the allergist on Monday. What was his eczema like and where was it? We are currently using Aveeno with oatmeal. Yikes!! How old was your LO when this happened?
