I realize that 1) not that many people exercise regularly, and 2) of those people, not many are pregnant. So I do realize that I'm something of an anomaly in that I'm pregnant and I exercise. But I go to the same gym most of the time, which is at my work. It's small and you pretty much see the same people all the time. You'd think they would have gotten used to it by now, but apparently not. Literally every time I am there, some annoying person tells me, "Wow! I can't believe you're still doing it!" or "When I was pregnant, I just sat on my butt and ate!" or something along those lines. Yes. Yes, I am still doing it, and no it's not as hard as you think it is. And if you chose not to do it, good for you. I'm not judging you or making comments on your choices. Why do people feel the need to comment? Or that they even have a right to say anything? I don't make comments when I see new people at the gym, or when I notice someone hasn't been in a while, or otherwise make comments on their choices. Honestly, if you were working out before you were pregnant, and keep it up during the pregnancy, it isn't that hard to do. The last 4-6 weeks are tougher, but even then there are still a lot of things one can do. OK..thanks for listening, I just had to get that out!
On the positive side, I passed my glucose test, yay!
Re: Tired of the comments...
I don't go to my work gym because of the comments even to non-pregnant people.
Good job on the GTT.
You should reply back with some snarky comment like, to the person that sat on her butt, "well I don't want to look like you!!"
They are secretly jealous that you are such a badass.
So far no one has commented that I shouldn't be walking my dogs any more, and if anyone does I will tell them where they can stick it.
Yay for passing the GTT! I was wondering when you'd update.

Agree with all the PP!
I'm still going to the gym regularly and plan to continue as long as I can!

I wonder if beneath their poor communication skills some of these people are impressed with you and then, are actually proud of you and even going on to proudly tell their pregnant friends and relatives that there is a pregnant woman exercising at their gym. Your presence in the gyn is changing the way they think about pregnancy, a local advocate for better health through pregnancy!
...though, yes, I see how their comments are unwanted and annoying.
Thanks ladies that makes me feel a lot better.
Oh and with DD, I actually WAS in the gym the day I went into labor. I was on the exercise bike going...ouch, I'm feeling extra crampy today! Little did I know LOL! I know I should probably choose another gym but it's just so convenient since it's on-site and it's cheap.
The downside is having to see these people both in and out of their workout gear LOL. Thanks again all!
I would like to think so! One lady did tell me, after DD was born and I was back at work, that I did inspire her and made her realize it was possible to stay fit and not gain excess weight. So that was a comment I did appreciate.

Another kudos to you, OP! I was jogging 4 miles a day, at least 5 days a week at the start of my pregnancy, but I can't do that anymore. I still get in about 2 miles of speedwalking nearly every day, which impressed my doctor so good enough for me.
I agree with the others, that the commenting folks are impressed and/or jealous. I know I am just a tad jealous and seriously impressed by that woman who gave birth en route in the NY or Boston Marathon a couple of years ago.
::lurker:: hoping to join you all soon
Anyway, good for you! My last pregnancy I did Zumba 5 days a week until the day I went into labor. That was a reduction in my pre pregnancy workout schedule but I still felt like an hour of cardio was great. As an "older" mom (I was 35/36) I felt like it was especially important to keep up my healthy routine. I got all kinds of dumb comments but I felt awesome the entire pregnancy which totally made up for them.
I intend to be just as active with my next.
Yes, it will get easier! I also found it super hard in the 1st tri, but 2nd tri I felt like myself again. 3rd tri will get difficult toward the end (I know from experience with DD), but I will still keep doing as much as I can. Good luck and kudos for sticking with it!
This. When I read your post I didn't think the people were being negative at all. I'm still doing all of the same workouts I did prior to pregnancy and every day (I go to the gym 5-6 days a week) the same people make the same comment about how they can't believe I'm still going, I'm their motivation and they slacked off/would slack off if they were pregnant. Although it gets old, I know they mean it as a compliment. Your situation seems exactly the same and I don't believe you should not take it negatively.
