BJCM: To GT or not to GT

So sorry if this has been asked! DH and I are getting ready to take the plunge with the BJCM. The question is...is the GT really worth it? I should add that DH and I are not super outdoorsy, so I am not sure if the fancy wheels will be essential for us. However, I'd like to be able to take it on a playground or grassy area if needed. I saw a review online that said the regular wheels could handle it, but what do you think? Also, we are very tiny and I'm a bit concerned about the additional weight. I like that the GT can accommodate bigger children, but our boys are also little, so I'm not sure if that is such a big deal.

Anyone get the standard one and regret it? If you got the GT, do you believe the extra perks were worth the extra cost? Thanks so much for your input!!

Re: BJCM: To GT or not to GT

  • I'm not outdoorsy type person and I saw a HUGE difference between the two at buy buy baby. I liked that the parent console was included (and its great) the seats are a little taller and wider (my 5 year old nephew still fits comfortably) and I love that it can go on the grass at the park or dirt. I tried doing the park with my city select and it was horrible. The wheels are just not rugged enough on the city select with two kids riding in it compared to my GT. also the adjustable handlebar is nice since I am petite and DH is very tall

My one negative....it is heavier and takes up my entire trunk on my crv.

  • We did the GT but we are tall as our kids are, we are outdoorsy too. The thing glides can you go test drive them at Buy Buy Baby? For us there was nothing that topped it. the Combi came close but the ride wasnt as nice. Mine didn't come with a console.
  • We had the regular Mini. (The GT wasn't out then.) We loved it. Our boys were taller height percentiles as babies (50th and 65th percentile, respectively, the whole first 2 years) but since then they've been down around the 25th percentile and they outgrew it when they turned 4. It pushes fine on grass as long as the ground isn't too rough/bumpy.
