Lurking here from August but I think davinci has great affordable cribs. We are going with a mini, which still converts, so if you are interested in a mini those are definitely more affordable than a regular size. We are looking at the davinci mini Emily and Kalani.
With DD we got the DaVinci Kalani in cherry and for #2 we got the DaVinci Jayden in espresso. We got whole bedroom sets (convertible crib with mattress, dresser, and changer) both times for about $850. They are good quality and will be used as toddler and full size beds.

We almost went woth the Graco Lauren, but went with the Graco Mason. It's only slightly different. The Lauren is a great crib, and is Baby Bargain's rec. for best budget crib.

We liked the Graco Lauren and decided on the Graco Maon too. The price was too good to be beat, thanks to the "get a free changing table" sale Target had a couple of weeks ago. It looks great!
We have a Graco Lauren or Sarah and have had no issues. DS used it for a little over a year as a toddler bed since we coslept until he was 18 months. Now it is set up as a crib for the new baby and it still looks new except where I scratched it putting it together. ;
