At-home IUI question

Has anyone done an at-home IUI (not an ICI)? Bonus points if you were able to get fresh sperm washed for an at-home insemination... I have a friend who is exploring this possibility and would love to chat with someone who has done this. Even just the IUI part (with frozen sperm) would be helpful so she can talk through the process. Let me know if you'd be willing to talk to her. Thanks!

Re: At-home IUI question

  • Well I just order my sperm today and I'm getting the iui done at my ob/gyn office. But, she can ask me anything and I am a birth doula so I have clients who are in the same boat .

  • I'm not generally much of a pearl-clutcher, but I don't think at-home IUI is safe for lay people to attempt.
The word you're looking for is SEX.  I promise.  No, it's not gender.  It's sex.  You're welcome.
  • At home IUI is too scary for us. If we inseminate at home, it will be ICI. You may be able to get sperm washed at a local RE office, but they also may require you to go through the sperm bank (fda regulations) if the sperm is not from an intimate partner.

  • Thanks for the feedback, ladies. The sperm is her DH's, so hopefully they'll be able to do what they need to to follow their plan.
