Pediatric Dentist?

Do you take your LO to a pediatric dentist or does the whole family go to the same office?

Just curious. I've taken DD to the dentist only once and I didn't exactly get that warm and fuzzy feeling, so I am thinking about switching. They were running late and I had to wait an extra 30 minutes, the hygienist told me that I should hold DD down and "force brush" her teeth and there were several small kids who were wandering around with no parent in sight. One of these wanders tried to pick DD up & took toys away from her that she was playing with.

If anyone has recs near Columbia/EC/Elkridge/Arbutus/Catonsville, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!

  • We go to Shiny Chompers which is in Ellicott City closer to the Elkridge side. I love Dr Richardson. She is so nice and the staff is great as well.

  • I was not happy with any of the pediatric dentists my oldest saw until I heard about started taking her to the U of MD Dental School in Baltimore. Well worth the drive. They saw the treatment plan I was given super extensive, expensive work which confused me because there were few cavaties visible and all of them were on teeth the dentists had already worked on. But in the end, the private dentists were telling me almost all her teeth needed root canals, etc. The pediateics at UM did.bb the xrays and exam agreed with me the only problem teeth were the ones that had already been worked on. They cleared up the issue she has been 100 since.
  • Amie- Our dentist told us that it's best to bring them in when they have almost all their teeth which is between 1-2 for most kids. She said you could bring them in earlier but there is not much to clean or look at :) Some dentists will say 2 or 3.

We see Dr. Jahnigen there - it's a great practice and Dr. Jahnigen is great with the little ones.  DD first went when she was 1 1/2

  • Just posted in a new thread, but well worth the drive (especially since it is only twice a year) to Tull & Behling, LLC in Arnold.
