Help! Does this sound bad?

Help! I am new here, but I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old. :) I should know better than to freak out, but I'm just confused. And I already googled it, but I wanted to hear from real people :)  No one but my husband knows I'm pregnant, so I don't want to ask anyone and let the cat out of the bag. I don't want to call the OB on call on a Friday night, and I sure as heck don't want to leave my husband and kids and sit in a cold ER all night by myself. No thanks.

I'm about 5 weeks, 3 days or so. I had a little light light pink spotting tonight, and it freaked me out. It was only about 4-5 spots, but enough to make me worry, and my back is killing me. I'm also having pinches in my cervix, but i had that with my son, too. My tailbone and lower back have actually changed shape, so that would explain some of the back pain, but the two together are making me worry. I don't think I'm cramping, though. I had an ultrasound Wednesday, there was a gestational sac and a yolk sac, and she couldn't tell if there was a fetal pole, but she did say she thinks I'm just "early." (Duh, we DTD once last month. Sperm only live so long.)  Ectopic was ruled out. They did the HCG quants on 1/30 and 2/1, it started at 212 and tripled to 660. Not bad.

I'm having pregnancy symptoms consistent with my pregnancies that actually formed into a baby-- I'm nauseous, exhausted, I have thrush, and my "girls" are killing me.

I REALLY appreciate any help or insight. :)  Thank you :)

  • light pink and no cramps is usually okay from all the posts I've seen... and I had it before my u/s... which went well

  • Light pink spotting is very normal in early pg. I would rest and if you have bright red call your OB or go to the ER.

    I'm sure you'll be fine.

  • I definitely wouldn't head in to a flu ridden ER for those symptoms.  If it turns to bright red blood with cramping, call your doctor.  The sad truth is that really early on the ER isn't going to be able to do much except an u/s and then they'll diagnose you with a threatened miscarriage (they always do if you're pregnant and bleeding) and tell you to follow up with your OB.  Hope it turns into nothing more!
