Subchorionic Hemmorage.. Questions

Today I met with a doc for a consultation about *possibly* switching into her care. The doctor I have now is FANTASTIC but he is an hour and a half away. Long story short, the new doc said she wouldnt touch me due to me having Lupus, having both hips replaced, a stroke at 19, and plenty of other issues. My current doc has handled me himself (with a few appointments to MFM to ensure everything was 150% good) and it looks like I will be continuing care with him.

I mentioned at my consult that I was worried about miscarrying (just as I was with my other two pregnancies) and she scheduled an u/s to ease my fears (soo grateful for that)! I got a call at 330 saying the babies look great BUT I have a subchorionic hemmorage. I called my doc (of course he left early but its friday, i shouldve known) and had the rad report faxed over. I got a call from the nurse saying its a small hemmorage and I may have some bleeding. I am also on pelvic rest until this is resolved.

Has anyone gone though this? Were you seen more often to monitor it? Outcomes and stories are much appreciated. Dr. Google is making me more nervous than ever...

Re: Subchorionic Hemmorage.. Questions

  • I had a small SCH at the beginning of this pregnancy. We saw it at 6 weeks, and at 8 weeks it was even smaller. At my NT scan we didn't see it at all. Most times they really are no big deal if they are small but the bleeding is scary - even if you do know where it is coming from. GL!

  • Yep. Heavy bleeding at 7 weeks they saw the SH and said it should clear up by 12 weeks. Bleeding soon stopped and never saw it again.

  • I had one and bled so much at 7w that I went to the ER. But everything turned out fine and it was gone by 12w. Google is the devil for stuff like this so stay away from that! ETA: No I wasn't monitored more often b/c of this.
  • I had a small one and by 13w it had resolved itself. I did have bleeding from 5.5 to 7w off and on and even passed 4 blood clots. The babies were never in harms way. It's scary when you bleed and I always called the doctor.

They should continue to check on it to make sure it doesn't grow. GL!

  • I have one. I had some bleeding at 12 weeks and bled total of 3 times in a week. Never bled again. I started seeing a high risk dr to monitor it. Went every 3 weeks at first, now 6 weeks. My hemmorage started at 2 cm. Grew to 8 cm. and continued growing till about 20 weeks. It is now healing and getting smaller but is still there. Last I went it was about 5 cm. I am now 30 weeks. My high risk dr is not at all concerned about it. Baby has not been effected in any way. She is perfect and healthy. The only reason for concern is if it wasn't healing or if I was continuing to bleed. Best of luck! And try not to worry! They usually go away on their own.
  • I had a bad bleed at 8 weeks and thought the worst. They found the SCH and also a second baby at that ultrasound! ;)

Since then, I've had brown discharge after bowel movements for 3-4 days ever since. At my appointment yesterday my doctor said she wasn't worried about it unless it was red with pain.

It's very unsettling and to be honest, I'm still scared every time I use the bathroom that I'll see red again.
