I had posted friday about my recent experience in the hospital and questioning my doctor's practice...
I followed up with her today with a few questions regarding why the ultrasound was not performed and what I might expect if my ultrasound next week shows any cervical changes. Her email directly she states the following information that my Tri-State clinic (north dakota, minnesota, and wisconsin) "They are no longer doing cerclages, only the IM progesterone" if there are pre-term cervical changes (funneling/shortening/etc). She did not give a reason why, however, since I am already on p17 injections "there is nothing else we can do" according to my doctor. What happens, happens...
This is news to me...
Re: Surprising news from my dr
I can get a 2nd opinion from another clinic. The trouble is that I'm in a rural area and would have to travel quite a ways to get in and I have no idea what the waits for visits are like... I really want to call and talk to the ob my dr is getting her info from but I'm not sure who that dr is
While different docs in the practice may have different views it's the main clinic's protocol they are following. Guess it's time to start looking into things more seriously (especially if there are any abnormalities on my u/s next week).
I would definitely look into a second opinion and maybe even changing clinics and doc all together. That just doesn't sound right to me. You can start calling around now so you have more info in hand at your appointment. Maybe then she will change her tune.
Not to get off topic, but what has been your experience with the P17 injections so far?
