I just got a call from my OB office and the nurse left me a message regarding my January 30th blood draw for my Harmony test saying something like, "The lab called where we sent your blood for your Harmony test. There was an issue with the sample and they were not able to test it, so when you come in next week will need to get another draw." Really?
I'm not sure if you ladies remember, but my first OB (before I changed to this new one) told me he was pretty sure I had a blighted ovum at 5.5 weeks. I'm feeling a little freaked out over this message. Was there something WRONG and they are concerned? Or did someone just drop the ball and lose my blood/results/something? I went for blood on Jan. 30th. Why are they asking for this now?
No bueno. We were supposed to get results on Tuesday and were hoping if all was well we would tell our families.
Oh well... Would love any thoughts, even if you feel as nervous about this as I do.
Re: Seriously?
Oh no that sucks. It sounds like they either lost your sample or maybe contaminated it, who knows. Either way they didn't test it so don't freak out about results being abnormal. It stinks you have to wait even longer now but I'm hoping you get great results!

Exactly this. Sometimes, especially if you do the test fairly early, they can't get enough fetal DNA from the sample. For MT21, they take two tubes. They try tube #1 and if that one's a bust, they will then try #2. If they strike out again, you have to do a re-draw. It has nothing to do with you or the baby's health.

Thanks to all! I feel a little better now. I think with my age, I tend to brace for the worst case, and I'm always nervous about EVERYTHING. I need to chill.
I'll update when I find out my results.

There are other ways too that the original blood draw could have been compromised; for example if the blood clotted during the draw (can happen if your nurse was nice and used a small needle).
I understand the stress this has caused you. Take a deep breath and stay calm; for now there is no evidence that anything is wrong.
I was told all of this today as well. She told me not to freak out if they call and need me to come in again and that it isn't because the test came back with bad results. I'm hoping I don't have to go back in because that would mean longer that we have to wait for the results.
