What double stroller would you recommend? I'm looking for one of the type where one kid sits in front of the other, not those crazy wide ones where they sit side-by-side and it makes navigating between clothing racks completely impossible.

Re: Moms of 2+: Double strollers
I don't have mine yet... but so far in my research I have come to like the Baby Jogger City Select. I even tested it (to an extent) in store. Not sold on it yet but I do like that it has multiple configurations.
Pricey though.
I'm not sure I would actually get this due to its price, but it was my favorite.
I'd advise to try this our in stores with your LO and something weighted in the other seat. I wanted this stroller then I pushed my cousin's with her 2 year old and 6 month old in it and I hated it. Lots of people love this stroller but I just couldn't get over how hard it was to push and turn. I do have to disclose that I am kind of a stroller snob though and I like a really good push. I'd do the Britax B-Ready over the City Select because the push is much better with 2 kids. That's my top choice tandem and it's cheaper than the City Select.
I personally got the Bumbleride Indie Twin but we needed something all terrain. If you reconsider the side by side double, I'd look into the City Mini Double or Valco Snap Dual.
We haven't gotten ours yet, but my sister ended up doing a ton of research and now hates the one she got. She said she would have absolutely gone with a side by side because 1) the other type (I don't know what it's called but one in the front and one in the back) is impossible to push and 2) neither of her kids ever wants to ride in the back.
When we get one, I'm actually thinking of going for the sit and stand. I think A would do really well with it and he is never in the stroller long enough.
FWIW, I probably won't attempt taking both boys out with the stroller on my own. I would rather just wait until DH is with me and in that case, A probably wouldn't even need a stroller and we could just take the umbrella one for DS2. I plan on using the double stroller for zoo trips, museums, vacations and outside walks.
I pushed Oliver when he was 8 though Disney (and he is big for his age) in our sit and stand and it didn't break he had to be about 60 pounds. We loved it! we never had tipping issues either.
I just want to echo what a lot of PPs were saying about the cheaper strollers being difficult to push. I think you really get what you pay for when it comes to strollers but especially doubles since you are pushing so much more weight. If you want more ideas, check out this message board. This is the one I'm eyeing up!
We bought the Zooper Tango used and I hate it. It's impossible to fold and open and just because it technically fits through standard doorways, doesn't make it easy to actually do it.
We're going to buy the Joovy Ultralight Caboose. It's really well made and turns super smoothly. Also, they now sell a separate "jump" seat to make it a true double until your kid is ready for the sit/stand feature. Perfect for my 1 year old and newborn. Plus my 4 year old thought it was cool to stand while I pushed it.
I really love it. I bought it almost new off of craigslist. Like I said, the downside is that it's kind of heavy and it takes up a fair amount of my cargo space in my SUV.
I have a sit and stand too and boy, do i hate that thing.
I know you said you wanted a tandem stroller, but I thought I would throw this out there. Both the City Mini Double and the Britax B Agile Double fit through standard doorways- so they aren't as wide as you would think.
We have the city mini single which we love, but we are getting the B Agile double. The reason we decided on the B Agile is because it doesn't have a bar between the rear two wheels. On our City Mini, DH and I kick that back bar when we walk.
