Agreed, seems like common sense that you wouldn't put your LO on the top of the cart but people do it all. the. time. I always put LO in the basket and I'm still watching her the whole time so no one bumps, etc! DH and I usually need to get two carts...
I took my lil man to the store for the first time last week. Of course I out his carseat in the basket but I learned that I don't have much room for groceries! Thank god my bro went with me and we had a second cart. What do you do if you're alone and need a lot of groceries?

I piled stuff all around DD and on the bottom of the cart and I went more often so I didn't have to get a ton of stuff at once.

This, or babywear. I generally babywear if I need to take DD to the store with me, but with the cold and snowy weather lately, I've just been carefully piling the groceries in all other available cart space.
eh, I've done it, but I normally don't bc I'm short. The seat locks on and she's too small to knock it over. I live far from stores so I can't just go more often so I can buy less stuff.

This - and I use the little scanner gun and scan my own groceries. Then I have my bag hanging from the cup holder on the cart and I bag them as they go. When it gets too heavy, I put the bag in the top part, and use the bottom of the cart, too.
When I needed a bunch of stuff and had to go alone I would bring the stroller and pull a cart. It's annoying, but DD hated being worn when she was little and it was easier than trying to pile tons of stuff around the cart.

They really dont "lock" on there like they would a stroller. It truly wouldn't take much if someone ran into your cart. Never mind the fact that the end of the cart is now very much top heavy :

FI is a first time (biological) dad, and we had our first trip to the store together with DS2. He tried to put the carseat there.... I tried not to flip out on him; he really didn't know.
He pushed one cart, and I pushed the other cart with DS in the main part of the cart. If it were so freezing yesterday, I would have taken him out of his carseat to baby wear.
99% of the time I put DD in the basket when she was in the carry car seat, but I did bring her around like this once in a while. (Not like the picture, which looks very precariously perched) But DD's carseat clipped onto the seat properly. Maybe it's just the stores I went to, but I had to pull the latch to get her seat free whenever I did this.
God bless the Moby wrap. Makes my life so much easier.
The moby wrap is a lifesaver with DS! I used to take him to the gym in it and walk on the treadmill to get exercise haha.
I put the infant seat in the main basket of the cart and just PILE stuff around him, under the cart, in the toddler seat, etc. Once he ended up playing with a bottle of spices. Thank god for the seal on those or I would have had a paprika colored baby lol.
Today I took my son to the grocery store for the first time. I just brought in the stroller, attached his car seat, and hooked my grocery bag on the handle of the stroller. I wasn't getting very much but I didn't know how else to do it. I guess it wasn't a bad idea!
I wanted to get 3 12 packs of Coke, so I grabbed one and carried it while I pushed my stroller with my other hand. Then I asked the cashier for 3 total, and if someone could grab the other two and bring them out to my car. They were more than happy to accommodate me. I guess next time I could have my stroller AND a cart. Taking up a butt-load of space is better than balancing my baby on a cart!

Wow didn't think about wearing him! That makes sense! I'm learning as I go! Maybe I can finally use my moby wrap...if I can figure that out too!
Omg!

I used to do this too. Worked perfectly. Or I would just stop at the supermarket on the way home from work before I picked up DS.
