Strep B test?

What can I expect for the Strep B test? I have mine on Tuesday, and based on what I read in the Mayo Clinic guide, I'm not much looking forward to this "probe".

Honestly, it was nothing. Just a quick swab (nurse didnt use the platic speculum or amything). When she said she was done, I had to ask her if she even did it!

I haven't had mine yet with this pregnancy, but with DS#1 it was just a quick swab, no big deal

It's not even a probe. They don't stick it IN anything, just swipe with a long cutip type thing. They're not reaching for your cervix, so it's not all that invasive at all.

Everyone loves a butt swab.

It's external, so no probing. Just around the vaginal opening and anus.

I just had mine today and it was fast and simple. LO actually went nuts though! I think she was rather indignant about it! (and yes, I know she couldnt feel it...just saying her timing was funny!)

I'm not looking forward to this. I'm having this, an internal and an ultrasound at my next appt. (36 weeks). Not to be gross but do they lay you on your side to do the butt swab? Sorry, to be graphic, I just like to prepare myself!!!

Like everyone said no big deal but in my brain I'm like umm stay the hells away from my butt. Thinking about it kinda grosses me out.

Nope still on your back for the anal swab. You wont even know they are doing it! Its not like they stick their finger up there, its just the size of a q-tip.

Easier than a Pap smear. They don't even really do anything internal. Just swab the outside of vagina and rectum. I'm extremely sensitive about these exams and this one didnt bother me too much.

Had mine last week; super easy. Nurse actually gave me the swab and sent me to the bathroom to do it myself.

Wow mine was terrible. The vagina swab wasn't bad but when they had to go in the other way, it felt like a jagged toothpick poking around in there. Ugh, just terrible.

This. I wasn't even in stirrups, just sitting criss-cross laying on my back, and if there was any butt swabbing, I didn't notice.

Mine was a q tip in the vagina and then in the butt. Definitely was in. But over sooooo fast.

This for me too. I have a feeling the hemis aren't going to help it feel any nicer than it did last time around lol

Had mine this week. With my dr there was no what what in the butt. Small qtip in the vagina maybe like 1 inch, didn't even really feel it, then they swabbed just around the anus. That was it.

I believe it's "protocol" to do it. If you test positive, it can be dangerous to your baby during delivery if not treated. They have to give antibiotics during labor if you do test positive.

OP like others have said, it's a quick swab. Sounds like it may be a little different for everyone, but mine was just a quick swab on the OUTSIDE of the vagina and OUTSIDE of the bum.

Haha thanks. Sounds like it is so fast I just forgot having it done! My kids are only 4 and 3 so you'd think I could remember that far back, but maybe not!
