Well we got our BFN confirmed. We are pretty bummed but still feeling hopeful.

Question for those who have gone through this before: my period came 4 days late. For our next IUI I am assuming we will continue with the new cycle? Is that how it works?

I'm so sorry about your BFN . I am so scared about this process you order the sperm and you do everything right and there is the 2 week wait and ....... Then its a negative test!! I'm so scared now its not even funny !! I'm thinking the worse before I even go to my appointment. So I hope you try again and don't forget I am here for you and so is this board!!

Yeah. We just go in for monitoring on day 2 or 3 as usual, with day 1 being the first day of an actual flow....

Usually if you meet with your doc after the day 3 monitoring you discuss any changes to the plan then ie. whether to add or change meds this cycle...

I am so sorry to hear about your BFN. For most people, it is just a matter of time, so try to keep the faith! Easier said than done, I know.

I can tell you that after tracking 8 months of 'perfect' cycles, as soon as I started TTC, I had two late periods with BFNs. I think it is the stress of the whole process that pushes things back. Its not fun, and its very confusing. The book 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' really helped me to understand how this can happen.

Alll the best of luck to you (and the other TTCers) for future tries. It is an emotional rollercoaster, but I hope that it is a fruitful one for you all! My only tip is - try to relax. Yoga and acupuncture worked wonders for helping me to relax.

Thanks to everyone! It has been really frustrating the last few days... A is so regular that after she was late a couple of days, we both started to really get or hopes up which tried to both disguise as indifference, albeit poorly.
We are definitely using this as a learning process and know a few things to be aware of for next time. We also agree wholeheartedly that when the timing is right, we will make the perfect baby for us!

Sorry about your BFN. Like someone from above, I had over 12 months of regular cycles until TTC. Especially when I switched to Clomid. That added a few days onto the cycle (3-4 days) and definitely caused confusion. I can't remember from previous posts if you were medicated, but that also could be causing it. I can't speak for a Femara side effect because that was the month we got a BFP.

Yes, thanks everyone for your kind words. C is right, we did start to get our hopes up a little prematurely...but now we know for next time what to expect. Everyone here has been so great and supportive...I just wish you were all here locally!!! This has been a rough process and I know we could have a very long road to ride down. We will definitely still be here, continuing our journey and cheering you all on in your own journeys!

Hi there, sorry about your BFN! I agree with the other ladies. If you are doing natural unmediated cycles then chart your cycles, and tell the doc when you are CD1 first day of your period.

I'm sorry to hear about the BFN. It always stings. It's important to remain hopeful but you are also allowed time to grieve the cycle. And as the others mentioned in the above posts ... I always called in on CD 1 and then went for a baseline u/s on CD 3. I'm not sure if you are doing a medicated cycle. I'm sending you "good luck" vibes for your next cycle.
