Bassinets

So okay at first I didn't really want bassinets because babies grow so quickly an I feel like I'd only use them for like 3 months and done but now I'm getting closer I'm only 23w but still lol I want them to be in my room. We're having boy/girl twins. Me and my bf live in our own apmt and our room isn't huge so two cribs won't fit in here. Now I'm considering getting the little Moses bassinets and just placing both in the playpin and having them in our room like that? Any ideas? I would love some suggestions!

Re: Bassinets

  • Can you just use a pack n play instead?  Put it to the highest setting and lay both babies next to each other.

  • We have a really small room and dont want to get anything that will clutter the house even more especially if the baby wont need it for long. But, we are going to get the bassinet for our room because it saves us from going to the baby room and staying in there all night until baby goes back to sleep.
  • My sister had both of her twins in the same PNP or crib until they started rolling.

  • We used a bassinet for DD but she didn't really love it and she ended up sleeping in a RnP next to our bed before transitioning her into he rcrib around 5 months.

I also think the idea of a PnP.  DD is almost 2 and still uses hers as a safee place to play when I take a shower or change laundry.

  • If you do get bassinets, get them used. You are right, they only get used for 3 months max. So used ones are pretty much like new, but a lot cheaper!
  • I am cosleeping my two in a crib in our room until its a problem. If I am not ready for them to leave the room a that point my dressers and other furniture will move out first to fit another crib.
Im not wasting money on other beds and the pnp is our down stairs sleeping area. I dont want to buy another.

  • I agree with the rest of the moms that you can just put them in a PNP together.

DH an I are limited on space as well so we came up with another solution. We have a fairly big closet so we are doing a mini nursery in there. The LO will be SUPER close but we can still close the doors.

Please don't judge for letting my kid live in a closet.

I sat for a family when I was in highschool who was in the middle/end of building their lovely/huge 3 bedroom house when she found out she was pregnant with baby 3. Baby was in the closet for a good year if not until she grew out of the crib. I assume they eventually converted the playroom/storage area into a bedroom since that was the plan in progress when I graduated. Sure they could have roomed her with a sibling, but this LO was already following a surprise baby by a few years and the age gap was pretty good. Not to mention the set of stairs between the master and playroom/nursery.

No judgment at all because of space/size (we were living in a really odd artist bungalow when my son was born), but you might want to reconsider closing the door, because reducing air circulation is believed to be a contributing factor of SIDS.

To the OP, we are going to get an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper in full size (not the mini) so it will be useful for a while.

I was thinking of one of those bassinets that connects to a stroller. so if we go for a car ride I can easily keep the baby without waking him/her up.
  • For twins, I would either use the pnp, or check craigslist for bassinets in good used condition. I always see bassinets on there at great prices. Good luck!
