Our test for RSV is positive. I am so upset. I really hope baby doesn't get worse. I am sure it came from my friend's sick kid and I could seriously kill her right now.
That sucks! I haven't personally experienced it but two friends within the last few weeks have. One child was 4 weeks old and was in the hospital for a week on oxygen. The other is 3 months old today and just came home yesterday after 5 days in the hospital.
Both my boys have had it recently. It's generally a 10 day illness from the time they start showing symptoms. Days 5 through 7 are the worst and the most dangerous time. Call your doc ASAP if baby begins laboring to breathe. My guys made it through without hospitalization but one almost had to go to the ER. Most babies don't require intervention, but just keep an eye on LO because things can change rapidly.

Thank you. Hope your boys are over it. I am so worried about this.
We're still getting over it. We started on a Friday with a fever and "cold". We were at the pedi Friday, Sunday and Tuesday. By tues he had gotten worse. Still had fever, was eating much less and started having trouble breathing. She had us admitted to the hospital tues because he was dehydrated and having such trouble breathing. We were the 6 days, came home last Sunday. He still has a little cough and congestion but is getting better. Not every baby will get as sick as us!! I have several friends family members who's kids had it and it was like a bad cold for a few days!
It's sucked, that's for sure, but you'll get through it. It's hard watching them feel do poorly. Do all you can to keep LO comfortable saline drops, bulb syringe, vapor baths, hold LO a lot and keep an eye out. Catching the labored breathing early, if its going to happen, helps keep LO from needing hospitalization. My guy that had a worse case did so much better after the pedi prescribed a nebulizer after I pushed for him to be seen again. My mother's intuition said he was deteriorating, so listen to yours. My other boy has had a milder case overall, so hopefully yours will too!

This except my LO did end up in the hospital on oxygen for four days. My toddler was never tested but I'm sure she was the source and got it from church.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
My Max has/had this. He start with just a cough for 2 days and then it went to cough/not eating/very, very mild fever for 1 day - then back to not eating/coughing for about 3 more days. He still has the lingering cough. I took him back to the pedi this week (3 weeks now since the first sign of it) because he still has the cough and they told me that the cough can stick around for up to 5 weeks! Ugh! The not eating very well was the worst for us as I was very worried about dehydration. We just keep feeding him every chance we had and even a 1/2 oz was a victory! The cough was quite painful for him for a while too - so I gave him tylenol during the day to help with that as I think that was part of the reason he didn't eat very well.
Just keep an eye on them and hopefully it'll pass with just the mild cold symptoms!

Thanks, ladies. Yep, the friend who didn't mention her kid was sick.
Mamas who have experienced this: how long was LO sick, and at what point did they get worse or better?
