Babies: 6 - 9 Months

cut off nap time?

does you have a cut off time for naps-- we start bedtime routine around 7/7:30 and DD is usually in bed asleep by 8.

Should I just let her nap when tired- no mind the time, or have a cut off time in the PM?

Re: cut off nap time?

  • We defintiely have a cutoff in the afternoon.SHe generally takes her afternoon nap sometime between 2-5. If she wakes too early form her afternoon nap she will get very tired around 7/7:30. She doesn't go to bed until around 9-9:30. In those cases I will let her take a 15-20min nap in my arms, but nothing longer than that.

  • My general rule of thumb is that if it's 5pm or later and he absolutely needs it, I'll let him nap but wake him up after about 30 to 45 minutes.  He usually goes to bed between 7:30 and 8pm.

  • Yes, our DS is cutoff for naps after 4:00pm. Otherwise he is up until the better part of 11:00pm doing nothing but crying because he is so tired. Strange how babies do that...HAHAHAH!!!

  • Our cutoff is 5pm. We start lotion, pjs, nurse, sleep at 7pm.

  • I usually don't put DS down after 5:00, but he's been getting super cranky in the evenings and having to go to bed around 6:30 (an hour earlier than what used to be our "normal.") Yesterday his second nap ended around 2:00, so I put him down for another nap at 5:00. He slept for 30 minutes and woke up in a MUCH better mood. I bumped bedtime back to 7:15 or so, and he slept until 6:30 this morning. (He's been waking at 5:30, so I was thankful for the extra hour!)
