3 babies under 17 months!

Hi everyone! Figured I should introduce myself! My name is Juliet and I currently have a 9 month old baby boy named Elias. My husband and I just found out we are expecting twins due in September!! I am about 8.5 weeks along. So, I will have three babies all under a year and a half! My due date is a few days before DS's 17 month mark. Yes...I will have my hands full!

I am already overwhelmed trying to figure out a damn stroller option! Nothing seems to work for two infants in carseats and a spot for my older baby! I have seen the triple ones that don't allow the carseats, or ones that allow the carseats but DS has to stand... He will still be a baby himself and needs to sit! Any recommendations?

Anyway, excited to get to know you all and share/seek advice with each other!

Re: 3 babies under 17 months!

  • A friend of mine had a singleton 14 months after her twins- she wore the baby and still had her twins in a double stroller.  So you might think about wearing one of your twins while a twin and your older child ride in the stroller.

I definitely thought of that, but I would love to have a stroller option! I always had a hard time getting DS in my carrier without looking, I'd have to walk in the bathroom sometimes and look while I got him in.
  • DS will be 18 months when the twins are born. We got a graco ready2grow for the twins and we will use our lightweight single stroller for DS. Keep in mind....your LO will be a lot more mobile and probably walking by the time your twins are born. DS is just under 17 months now and he runs everywhere.  It definately changes the stroller situation.

  • I would buy a quad stroller I've seen them cheap on kohls.com or BJs and the 4th seat would be storage. Wow you must be young and full of energy! Sounds like it will be a lot of fun and hard work! Happy pregnancy!
  • Jnoelle, were you an April 12 bmb mom?

I'd look at the stroller with the stand and having am umbrella for longer outings.

  • I had 3 under 20 months. It's crazy but fun. We got the Valco twin trimode. Love it! I can take all 3 for a walk. It is bulky but we also have the dsng for dr appts as I do not take my oldest.

  • My youngest will be barely 18 months when the twins come so I will have 3 under 2 for at least 6 months as well. Im just staying positive and realistic at the same time. If that makes sense. lol

I know and am preparing mentally for all of the challenges but not dwelling on them and getting paranoid bc it wont do anything to help, just detract from the specialness of carrying twins =)

Im certain every Single Day will be challenging, exhausting, scary and Totally worth it!    Smile

  • and to pp with the 17 mos old son.

A toddler that runs all over is not the greatest thing when you need to focus on getting from point a to point b and they are lagging behind or off in the opposite direction.

You may want to consider a double With the bench or a tripple for when you need it =)

  • I know how you feel my little boy will be about 12 months old when my twins are born. We were having the same problems when looking at strollers but I think we are just going to get a double stroller and I can wear one of the babies or use a single stroller if someone is with me.

  • So glad you posted this...I was going to post the same thing about the stroller question.  I will have a 19 month old and twins so I had the same concern.  I like the Joovy but don't know if my daughter will like the rear sit and stand seat.  So far my favorite is the Valco Twin Tri Mode...and I think it is one of the few that lays flat to accomodate infants, instead of 6 months old and up only.

    Congratulations to you!!

This.  I can't even imagine going to the store with my DS who is 22 months old without putting him in a shopping cart or stroller.  All he does is run around.  The last thing I want to do is for him to be walking around the store when I have two other little ones with me.

  • Thanks for the opinions everyone! I am aware that DS will be a lot more mobile by the time the other two are born, which is more reason why I want to find a stroller! Haha. I can't be chasing him around.

To the pp who asked, I was originally due in may but had Elias in April so I migrated to that board after he was born! So, yes. :)

  • lisaf -

lol thats exactly what I meant.... just because an older child can walk now does not mean he/she will hold onto your leg and follow along like a little duckling, unfortunately.

They also tend to walk slower than you would need them to bc their legs are so much shorter and they are easily distracted. So even if they stay 'with' you, youre still likely stuck with the task of trying to pull them along at Your pace.

  • Congrats and welcome to the board! I'm sure it'll be crazy but I know a few moms who have done it. I agree with checking out the Valco twin trimode with the joey seat or whatever it's called; from what I've heard that seems to be the best option for a stroller for all 3.

  • I said that it changes the stroller situation, not to just let LO run wild. DS is always in his stroller or the cart at the grocery store..... they don't need to be in a "baby" stroller any more, toddlers can ride in a cart. I was saying we are getting a double stroller and using the single stroller for DS. OP said her LO would be a baby still, but I would consider that age to be a toddler.
