Brands

I now know that we are having baby boys. I have a large network of friends and family and have been asked where we are registered we don't have anywhere yet because we have some stuff already. My big question is does anyone have suggestions of which brand of bottles etc is preferred or better then the other any suggestions. I am looking at registering at Target and Babies R Us so not looking for anything majorly expensive just basic stuff.

Re: Brands

  • My friends all told me to get Born Free glass- well the nipples are too big for the babies tiny mouths and milk went everywhere.  Waste of $!! In my opinion. I switched to Dr. Browns in a week- glass and haven't looked back! I love them! Smaller nipples and an air vent great for colic.

  • I registered for several starter kits so we could see what the boys preferred. We lucked out with the first one we tried: Dr. Brown's. FWIW, I also BF and the nipple was especially important to us. The boys haven't had any issues with nipple confusion on Dr. Brown's nipples.

  • I recommend trying a few different brands. My daughter will only take a few specific nipples whereas my son will take anything you hand to him. We also had the Dr. Browns bottles but I eventually found them annoying because of all of the extra parts to clean and I didn't find that they made much (if any) of a difference in terms of spitting up etc. Now we use mostly Medela.

  • Another vote for Dr. Brown's. I used them for my older DS and they worked great
  • We had no issues with Born.Free. My son did very well with them.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • I wouldn't buy too many of any one type until you have your babies. We got a ton of avent bottles but my twins didn't like them. We are now using Playtex ventaire at the recommendation of our pedi, but this is the 3rd brand we have tried and we wasted a lot of money up front stocking up on avent.
