Re: ~*~DE/DEmbryo/GC Check-in~*~

  • JM, super excited for your big fat BFP Beta this week!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a little check in from me. Tomorrow I am 11 weeks! I can't believe it's almost the 2nd tri and I've not accomplished a thing on my 'before baby' list. We are having our NT scan & cell-free DNA test Friday, so hoping our young, sparkle-pony donor egg proves problem free. :) We'll know the gender in two weeks! Amazing! We are waiting for our wedding to announce it to everyone else (April 20) - same-sex marriage just got legalized and we definitely want to be married before the baby is born. We've felt married for years of course, and are excited to legalize it! (The theme: Shotgun Wedding :) - I'll be 21 weeks).

I'm deathly sick with a cold and missing the comforts of modern medicine. After a netti pot, hot compresses, steam and a few other home remedies, I caved in and took some tylenol and an 'approved' decongestant and cough syrup (after talking to my midwife). I coughed so much I had a tiny little bleeding scare on Monday, but nothing since then. She said it was likely coughing/pressure popped a blood vessel on my cervix.I was relieved that was all it was!

I'm fixing to write our egg donor an "end of first trimester" letter to just keep her posted on how things are going. I know some people really don't want a connection to their donor, I totally get it/respect that - but we are really happy to have a few hand written letters and definitely like feeling a little 'connected.'  Especially because we have those items for the baby one day, if they start asking questions and looking for some connection to their DNA, we'll have some things for him or her.

Hope all is well all around for you all :)

    Lil'mamaz was born on Aug 21, 2014! She's PERFECT!

It's been a long road to here...

  • First, huge congrats to JM1977...I can only hope for such a strong beta one day.

That said, also huge (((HUGS))) to McIrish...I'm so upset for you.  While I know DE is not an easy decision for anyone to make, once you decide to take the plunge, you hope/expect to get to the "other side".

My small update this week:  I had my immune panel drawn yesterday plus some other blood work...wow, that was a crapload of blood!!  But I feel like I'm just a small step closer to (hopefully) getting some answers and a better plan for a spring FET.

QOTW: How do you deal with needing time off from work for fertility procedures?  My boss knows why I need the time off, so I've been able to use vacation time for my appointments.  I keep track of how many hours I use and submit it on a regular basis.  It's a lot less stressful now vs. earlier in my journey when I tried to hide it.

Me: AMA, DOR, undetectable AMH, carrier of SMA, MTHFR homozygous C677T, high cytokines, low IGg B cells, Factor XIII V34l mutation, High Anti-Phosphatidylethanolmine, borderline hypothyroid and mildly insulin resistant.

MH: No known issues, aside from MTHFR.

Recommendations from RI: LIT, Humira, IVIG, Lovenox, Baby Aspirin, Folic Acid, Low-dose synthroid and Metformin.

Currently taking:  Pre-Natal vitamins, Foltanx, Low-dose synthroid and Metformin.

When cycling also taking: Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, Humira and IVIG.

TTC since 7/11/09..with medical intervention starting in 2010, including 4 failed IVF's and 6 failed IUI's...only "success" was a chemical pregnancy in 11/2012 (credited to use of DE).

    FET #1 (11th cycle) on 8/23/13 = BFN.

FET #2 (12th cycle) Transfer of last two (day 6) donor egg blasts on 1/22/14 = BFP, EDD = 10/10/14 (please stick little BOY!)

    My favorite breed:

    ***PAIF/SAIF always welcome***

  • Good Luck tomorrow McIrish.  I am hoping for the best.

    Congrats JM!!

I had my 2nd u/s and bw this morning.  Apparently the estrogen has been working.  I'm 9.9mm today with triple layer.  Clinic said I am definitely ready for transfer so I gave them preferred dates and will start pio once I have confirmed.  It's getting so real.  So close.

QOTD - I try to schedule everything for early am or late afternoon.  That way I can either come in earlyor work late.  No one bothers with me if I do that. For the transfer I a requesting a saturday time just so I don"t have to try to book the day off.  we wll see.

  • Update: went in for my lining check today. Everything looked good :) Dr. didn't give a specific number and I didn't ask. I feel like sometimes the more info I have, the more I obsess over. So I just took his word it was good and left it at that. My donor started stims on 2/1. She went for her first check this past tues. she had 7 follicles on one side and "not much going on on the other" per my RE's nurse. They upped her meds and figure she'll stim for an extra day or two. She goes tomorrow for another check, so fingers crossed she's got a little more going on. So for now our retrieval is scheduled for 2/13 or 2/14. I can't believe we are this close. Just trying to stay calm and relaxed. (Yeah, right!?!)

QOTW: I'm a stay at home mom to our 5 yr old DD so time off work isn't a problem, but finding child-care is sometimes rough. We've only told our close family what's going on, so if they aren't available sometimes it gets a little tricky :)

  • Congrats JM!!

Big hugs to McIrish, thinking of you and wishing that everything wasn't always so hard at every step on your journey!!!

Status Update: Where are you currently with the DE/DEmbryo/ GC process?

We are waiting for our donor to get AF, probably next week.  Then she has to take BCP for one cycle before cycle can begin.  We are looking at cycling and probably ET in March.  Will probably have calendar in the next week or so.  I am so done waiting!!  Wanted to cycle yesterday, and unfortunately I have another birthday approaching in April.  Starting 3rd week on BCP, which are making me nauseous.

QOTW: How do you deal with needing time off from work for fertility procedures?

My boss is aware that we are doing IVF.  It's personal, but she has been supportive throughout.  This has been helpful at times.  In January I had to run to the OB/GYN in the middle of the day to get some additional testing, to get my HMO referral completed.  With my job it's hard to leave in the middle of the shift, but after I explained what I needed to do the boss was supportive-and she understood that getting that referral was key to us being able to move forward.  I try to schedule RE consults on my days off and go for monitoring appts before work when possible.  I've only needed sick days for ER and ET when I was cycling with my OE. Hope that DE IVF turns out to be a bit more predicatable.

  • This is my first check-in in a while, and my first on the 3rd party board (yay!). In general I haven't been on the boards much but wanted to post an update, hope that's ok. Also, big congrats to JM and lots of hugs to McIrish. I wish things could be easier.

I did a FET in December with our last two embryos, and after some wonky betas (vanishing twin?) and a slow heartbeat, things seem to be on track (knock on wood- I feel like I'm jinxing it just by posting here). I'm 10w5d. I don't think I will really feel safe until 2nd tri (and probably not even then). Thanks to everyone on here who supported me over the years, and best of luck to all the ladies on this new board.

QOTW: Hasn't really been an issue since monitoring is before work and I've just used sick time for procedures. My boss was very understanding as well, so that helped!

  • Hi there,

I haven't posted anything in awhile but there's not much to update except the number of cycles really. Now we've had another failed cycle so 1 cancelled and 3 failed. We even added in hgh to try and improve the quality....while it was a better response still negative and no frosties.

We rescheduled our CCRM consult for 2/21 also. Basically I've got quite a few 2nd opinions to see if they believe this is a quality issue and recommend DE....so far one RE said yes and the SIRM clinic says no. There are two more in person consults and then the CCRM phone consult this month, so we'll see what the average of the opinions turns out to be :)

We're hopefully going to be ready to cycle again in July. Since I'm out of work right now there's no way we can afford DE at this point. So basically we're going to exhaust any effort to make my OE work until we can save up money for it.
