Two Under 2

For those with one now and one on the way....

Do you find yourself hoping for a specific gender?  If so, which?  And why?

....just curious.

Re: For those with one now and one on the way....

  • I find myself hoping for another boy, but I think that is just because I know a couple of really cute 2u2 boy sibling sets but haven't met a boy and then girl one. I'm positive that if I have a girl I will be delighted, it's just harder for me to picture.

  • I was hoping for a girl because I already have 2 boys(7 and 7 1/2 months). We found out Jan. 17th that we are having a 3rd little boy. I was a little disappointed at first but am just happy that he is healthy. This is our last so am kinda sad that I will never have my little girl.

  • Hoping for another girl, primarily because DD has been so easy, I'm hoping another would be as well.  Also, being able to reuse her clothes and all things pink, not to mention the kids room are connected by a jack and jill bath, so would be easier for sharing.

That being said, I always said if I had one of each, I'd want the girl first, so halfway there if it is a boy.  I should know in about 2 weeks, getting blood drawn on Monday for MaterniT21.

  • I wanted another girl because I thought DD and a sister close in age would be the best of friends.  I am having a boy and DH couldnt be more excited.

  • With our 1st we were both kind of hoping for a girl because my DH was a terror as an infant/child (lol). It was a boy, but our DS is SO sweet and really easy.. nothing how DH was!

This pregnancy I wanted another boy for our DS to have a brother, but I wanted a girl for me. It is another boy. We are very excited to give DS a brother, but I can tell my DH would love to have a "daddys girl" one day!

We've always talked about 3, so hopefully our last will be a girl, and really complete our family.

  • I wasn't bothered either way with any of my pregnancies. DH has started an apprenticeship in a new career therefore money will be tight for a few years, so I wouldn't mind having a third boy. But really, lots of our boys' clothes are pretty unisex and I'm not actually that phased about dressing a girl in boy's clothes either so it's no big deal which we have.

Just as long as it's not twins!! Ha!

  • I'm hoping for a boy I think. I'd love either, but I already have a little girl so a boy would be fun this time!

  • Honestly, I do.  We were blessed with a beautiful baby girl as our first.  I'm hoping this time around (and we'll find out in a couple weeks) that its a boy.  For a few reasons: 1) my husband has a 3 YO son that was born prior to our dating, but his son doesn't share his last name, so I would like to give him a son so that the name is passed on because my husband is an only son, as well as his dad, and 2) I would just like to mix it up.  BUT, I would be happy, regardless of the sex, as long as he/she is healthy (which at 18 weeks, this baby feels healthy based on the kicks and movements).

  • I cannot decide. I'm leaning toward another dd just because I think a pair of sisters 13.5 months apart would be adorable. I have a sister just 10 months younger than me, so I think I'm trying to relive my childhood through this idea. Plus, we really won't have to buy much at all (just a few 0-3 cardigans to make summer outfits autumn outfits), and we'll be set on everything the new baby needs for the first several months at least.

On the other hand, if we have a boy, we'll have one of each and I really won't care who comes in the future. I've always said I want a big family and I don't care about the numbers of each gender except that I want at least one of each.

Dh and my mom are convinced it's a boy. I guess we'll find out in 9 weeks.

    Mommy to N (3), J (2), and C (10 months). LO4 is due in mid-September.
  • I wanted another boy because of the age difference between them.  I figured it would be easier with bonding, playing, activities, etc but I am having a girl.

  • With our DD, I wanted a girl, and my DH wanted a boy.  But now, he really loves having a little girl.  I want another little girl, so they can grow up and be best friends (after the teen years, I'm sure).  Plus, it would be a huge financial advantage.  Financially, my husband wants another girl.  But secretly, he wants a boy.

  • I have always wanted one of each, but having a second son. I'm really excited to have two little boys so close in age, but now would have to be pregnant AGAIN if I ever want a daughter which I'm not so sure about. I'm blessed either way!

  • I already have a girl and a boy.  I was hoping this was a girl as my DD really wants a sister but at the NT scan the tech and MFM leaned to boy (about a week too early to be sure).  I won't find out for another 3 weeks which it is but I am now hoping it's a boy.  DS will be 16m when this next LO makes their appearance.

  • I am leaning towards a boy. I would like to have one of each and SO really wants a boy. I agreed that if this was a girl, we would have a 3rd. I would really rather not be pregnant again :) I also think having 2 girls so close in age could be fun. I always wanted a sister when I was growing up. So I guess I will be OK with whatever we end up with. Just would be nice to have a boy and be done.

  • Obviously we would have been thrilled with either, but another boy would have been ideal and that is what we are having!

There were several reasons but they main ones were:

they will share a room when we have a third child

    reusing DS1's clothes!

we are going to wait a while for a 3rd child (probably 3-4ish years) so it will be fun for him to have a built in playmate in a brother.  I know boys/girls play together just fine, I think it will just be easier in the long run to have 2 boys since their interests will be more similiar.

  • i already have 2 children but I'll answer anyway....  I'm kind of hoping this one is a girl. i would love to be able to pull out all of DDs old clothes. :) I'd also love for Maddie to have a little sister who isn't too much younger. ideally, I'd like this one to be a girl and the next one to be a boy.
