I know it is trial and error but Im looking for any bottle suggestions from those whos little ones hated the bottle.
Which one finally worked for you?
So far DD2 HATES the bottle and we are running out of time. I have to leave her for 24 hours soon.
She is 11 weeks and will be 13 weeks when I leave her for the 24 hours.
So far we have tried born free and Medela with silicone nipples. We also tried platex drop in nursers with a latex nipple. All have been slow flow.
With the first two she just gags and screens same thing with a paci. With the drops ins and latex nipple she doesnt scream but just uses it like a chew toy and lets the milk run down her chin.
I've tried frozen milk, refrigerated milk, fresh milk, warm milk, cold milk, DH tries, my mom tries, they have tried different positions, different times a day, at home in quiet room, out in noisy public....
I guess DH will have to feed her with a dropper when I'm gone if nothIng works but I thought I should try a few other bottle types first.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Re: Bottle brand for baby that hates bottle?
I always comment on these posts when they come up and I always think people are seriously going to start thinking I work for the company (but I don't)! Try the Lansinoh Momma bottle. Seriosuly the thing is a miracle. We tried literally every.single.bottle on the shelves in the stores (I am talking no less than 8-10 bottles) and she screamed and cried over ALL of them. Drank maybe an ounce in about 20 minutes and just screamed or played with the nipple.
I was in tears every time she refused because I had to go back to work thinking I was going to have to quit my job and stay home to nurse her. So, I started random googling for similar situations and came up on the reviews on Amazon for this botttle where every single person had the same issue as me and swore their baby took this bottle with no fuss on the first try. (read the reviews!) So, I bought one off Amazon. I kid you not, DD latched immediately, drank 4 oz like nothing and has never looked back. The nipple is more like a real nipple (shape and feel) than any other. She latches just like she is on a boob. Also, when I first tried, I layed her in the bobby in the cradle hold just like I was BFing and shoved it in. No fuss. Very soon after that I was able to feed her sitting up, etc.
I find the bottle itself annoying (it is circular, like a boob) but the nipple fits on the regular Avent bottle so I just bought packs of nipples and use the Avents.
Anyway, that is my recommendation! I have heard back from some other ladies on the Bump to whom I recommended this nipple and it worked for them too! Good Luck!!!
Off to amazon.
My kids have been keeping amazon and my ups driver in business since 2010. No reason to stop now.
Thanks again!
You're so welcome! I just hope you have success! I swear they should be paying me for recommending it so many times. And I totally understand about keeping Amazon in business - it is crazy how much I have ordered, too!
Please post back here or PM me and let me know how it goes!!!
Dr browns here. Had a really stubborn bottle strike that lasted 3-4 months.
try breastfeeding then slipping the bottle in, boob, bottle, etc.
have hubby try feeding him in a bouncer distracted by toys,
good luck.
