We never talked about it with DS and I had the complete opposite birth experince I had invisioned. I have my next appointment a week from tomorrow, I'll be 24 weeks. Is that too early?
I talked about my birth plan with my OB at 13 weeks. She said it was great because it showed her that I was really consciously into my pregnancy and I was thinking about a lot of things. She's suggested that we tour the Labor and Delivery ward as well as the Alternative Birth Center at their partner hospital. Most of the things I want are pretty easy to accomplish, but my OB said the L&D ward is likely to fight me on some things, because they have their habitual ways of doing things, many of which are slightly more interventional than I'd like.
I'd say it's NEVER too early. I talked with my OB about the right to change my mind about this stuff once I actually start childbirth classes. ^_^
I don't think it is too early. I think I talked with my OB over the course of several appointments last time. I had a lot of questions that she answered. In the end she wasn't the doctor on call the day I went into labor so I had to rehash everything with the nurses when I got to the hospital.
I mentioned to my OB at last appt (20 weeks) that I have a birth plan. She said good and we decided to wait until the week before my EDD to make copies for her, and since I am pre-registering with the hospital, she said bring like 10 copies to the hospital when I register so they can put 1 in my chart and give copies to different nurses, different shifts, etc. I figured that was a good plan.
i mentioned something to my ob at my last appointment and he kind of chuckled and said 'you've got lots of time before you need to start worrying about that, don't worry, we'll get to it soon.'
so, i have no clue when hes going to want to start discussing it. if he doesnt bring anything up again by like 30-32 weeks, ill probably make mention of it again.?

I would hate if my Doc did that. It would make me feel silly and like a child asking for another bowl of ice cream. No questions from a new mom should be giggled at no matter how many times he has heard them.
