Someone is trying to set up a local ICAN group, and I'm trying to grasp what exactly an ICAN group does. Can anyone shed some light on it for me?

I'm sorta kinda involved in my local ICAN group. They have a facebook page where people can share stories, ask questions, post articles, etc. They also meet once a month and it is basically the same thing--sharing stories, asking questions, supporting each other, advice on VBAC-friendly providers in the area. I have only been to one meeting so far because they meet on a night that is really inconvenient for me. Their purpose is to provide information and emotional support for mothers who have had a c/s and for mothers who want to have a VBAC.
Have you ever been to La Leche League? It's like that only instead of boobs, it's about vaginas.

Yes, this exactly! I call it my monthly therapy. Everyone has been so supportive and informative.
I have been to one meeting (they invited me to talk about my VBAC experience and give a little positive hope to the group). For my local group, every other month is similar to the meeting I attended, and the rest of them are birth prep meetings.
