Absolutely. Happy to have gotten ours before the shortage, I also asked about BFing and LOs do get a little from you but they need their own immunization to be most effective.
The flu has been terrible here this year and my baby has hardly had a sniffle.
No one in my family received them. It isn't worth the risk in my opinion. Many countries have banned the flu shot after children and infants developed life threatening side effects from it. Also, the American Thoracic Society did some research which showed that the shot was ineffective at preventing the flu and children who received it were three times more likely to be hospitalized.
I got it for my daughter yesterday. We are traveling with her in March and airplanes are a great place for the spread of germs. We decided it would be good to get the extra protection. My DH and I also got flu shots this year earlier in the season.
I do not believe in the flu shot. I did get all the other shots but something that you have to get every year? Is it really good to give her that? I never get it(even after recommended by my Oncologist) and I do not plan on ever giving it to my kids.
However, she is not in daycare i'm lucky enough for grandparents to watch her and I keep her away from other sick family members/cousins as I can.
You have to do what you feel is right for your child.
DD goes to daycare so we were totally for the flu shot. I wish I could have had her get it earlier than 6 months because at 4 months she caught the flu from the other kids. 4 days at a high fever almost landed her at the hospital. I'd get the flu shot. It's particularly nasty this year.
Ours went today for his booster (they give it in 2 low doses). I would rather him be uncomfortable with a shot then to be stuck with a 7 month old with the flu - they can't take anything for it besides Tylenol. No thank you!

We got the1st flu shot and were scheduled for the booster on Monday. However, she got a fever Sunday night and tested positive for flu A at her appointment. I hate having my little girl do sick so I would definitely recommend getting it.
We did everything we could to protect her and she still got sick. We all got flu shots this year since we had a baby in the house and she doesn't attend daycare. I'm guessing she picked it up at swimming lessons or Target since those are the only places we had been.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!

Yes, do what you believe is right, but the flu can kill infants. You have to get a shot every year as the flu virus is a mutating virus. So every year, the vaccine that comes out is a custom made best guess as to what the mutation will be for that year. Still better than no protection especially since there are minimal side effects.
