Yes. It is 1000% worth it. DH and I had no idea about any baby gear and the people at BuyBuyBaby & Babies R Us are totally useless when it comes to explaining products. At the Big City Moms Baby Shower, the sales reps from each company are there to explain their products, which we found really helpful when looking at strollers, car seats, etc.
Also, the gift bag is unreal. We paid for early entry and got a Britax Baby Carrier, Arm & Hammer Diaper pail, bottles, pacifiers, toys, diaper bag and all sorts of samples of items. Also, they have raffles and people win strollers and other great prizes. I think they gave away like 9 strollers at the last event.
At the end of the day, it's a chance for the sales reps to make their pitches to you but if this is your first kid and you have no idea about what sort of baby gear to look for (which is the position we were in), it was so helpful. They also had free cupcakes and bbq which is always a plus.
So overall, it was great, totally worth the money and I couldn't recommend it more.
I went to the last one and thought it was worth the ticket price (and yes I did early admission). The gift bags were nice, but it seems they get progressively cheaper each year as the ticket prices go up. The carrier was a nice gift but not one I wanted (I went with the ErgoBaby) and I don't plan on using the diaper pail. But like PP said it was a great place to play with strollers, high chairs and other products and interact with the vendors. The vendors were nice and knowledgeable and a lot of them gave away their demo products at the end of the night. Also as mentioned, a lot of the raffles had great prizes. I would suggest getting early admission and going to the vendors that interest you most because it tends to get crowded when general admission opens up.
Definitely worth going to!!!My husband and I went to the last one and both really enjoyed it, couldn't believe how much we got in the gift bags and were very happy to learn about so many products that we didn't know about!! You can read about our experience here on my baby blog.

I went with a friend, we were both expecting our first. We had an awesome time. Yummy food, tons of gear to check out, cool gift bags. Didn't need everything in the gift bag, but enjoyed getting it just the same. I ALMOST won a stroller - the Britax giveaways are amazing.
YES! YES! YES! I cannot stress enough how much you will benefit. The giveaways and gift bag far outweigh the cost for entry. Just some of the goodies 7am Enfant booties, a boppy, Munchkin bottle warmer, tons of bottles, baby food, snacks, and the list goes on...don't miss it and make sure that you don't go by yourself.
