Preemie resources featured a blog post written by urbanflowerpot. It's about being a preemie mom and how we see things differently. It was amazingly written.
Thank you - I miss you ladies a lot. I'll return soon. My PTSD got a little agitated with the beginning of RSV (because DS was so sick last year) and now we are approaching the second anniversary of the fire. So - I'm around! just not this board but I'll be back!
Here is the link for those I don't know (yet). I wrote it a while back but it was featured on the blog's FB page today.
The back story is that a friend of mine was pg and I offered to give her a shower (big thing for me - never done it before and mine was awful due to circumstances). Four months of planning later she changed everything she wanted so I couldn't do it and it hurt a lot and caused a stupid fight that I know sounded like nonsense to her. I also loaned her my belly bands saying they were the only things I was attached to and the only thing I wanted back - gave her tons of other stuff which was no biggie. The bands, though Anyway, so we fought and then I had to watch her grow giant in the bands that she never returned and while it sounds petty to some...it hurt me tons. It's stuff like that the most people won't understand.
I'm so sorry that this winter has been rough on you... it is such a sucky time of year for preemies and parents. I don't think anyone gets the fact that our bubble cannot be secure enough. And really sad about what your friend did to you. I missed a few baby showers for the reasons you indicated. My son was born 2 weeks before my shower and I had to leave my own shower to pump! that is not normal and broke my heart!
I know before you mentioned wanting birth stories/ blog posts. if you are still looking I think I'm ready to open up about everything. let me know!
Just read your post. Amazing thank you so much for sharing! Even though your experience was personal to you, you did a wonderful job telling exactally how many preemie moms feel. And I am so sorry your friend was so insensitive and rude! That was a huge thing both throwing a shower and letting her use your bands!
Also sorry to hear that your going through some hard times, I can't even imagine how hard it would be to deal with anniversarys of such life changing events so close, sending you good vibes! Hope to see you back when you are ready! I was wondering where you went I am a total lurker on crafty moms and saw you over there!
