Pregnant after IF

Not my best appointment (just venting)

Despite gaining 5lbs in 1 week (I was shocked) baby is measuring the same as last week based on my fundal height. I am also starting to spill protein although my blood pressure is on the low side. I have started to be more puffy in the last few days. So I get to go for lab work tomorrow and another ultrasound next week. I have only been getting about 4-5h of sleep a night for various reasons but it is definitely affecting my ability to cope with anything, including studying or any worries about baby or myself or delivery or being a new mom.

  • Oh boo! Keep drinking lots of water! I hope you get a good nights sleep. You're getting so close!!

  • Oh no, kaf! Your appointment sounds like a bummer, but please, please sleep! Try to get in some walking (maybe flash cards to study while walking?), as a bit of blood flow will help you sleep.

Also, don't worry about the weight.  Mine is melting off (down 30lb).

As for worrying a ton... baby, your doctors are there to take the best possible care of your LO. Delivery, it sucks, I'm not going to lie. However, I did med free and I'm still here. I would do it again to get my darling DD. Being a new mom, it's hard, but it is so totally awesome! You will do great! It's never perfect, but it will work out (at least you aren't 16, pregnant with a psycho baby-daddy and tv cameras following you - sorry...late night attempt to insert humor). Hugs!

  • Hey Kaf! I just wanted to send you some well wishes and I hope you get some sleep.  I know how hard it was at the end with anxiety....and I wasn't in school about to take exams!

Try not to stress too much about the delivery. That was a super big part of my stress at the end and there were nights I did not sleep at all because of it.  Your Doctors will make the best decisions for you and your baby.  My birth didn't exactly go the way I planned and everything worked out for the best. I personally was scared about the pain but I promise you will get through that too! I am the biggest baby in the world and I did! Also, you will be a great mom...all of us who have struggled to get here are grateful for our babies and at first all they need is love (well and maybe a few diapers and food).

I know you are probably sick of hearing it but try to rest and drink tons of water.  Hang in there, it's almost over! Smile

  • Thanks ladies. Your comments were all really helpful. Because of needing to go for bloodwork I managed to get off work 3h earlier than usual and am now at home to do some studying. I also actually slept better last night - likely because of being exhausted from the nights previous. I am getting up and walking around the house or work but my OB has told me to stop going outside because we are in a particularly icy phase right now and he wasn't happy with my fall last week. I might have to make a point of going to the mall or something once I start mat leave next week to get some exercise.

Anyways, thanks for all of your kind thoughts. I'll keep you posted.
