Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Veggies.. YUCK!!!

My little one HATES veggies! She'll gag, make a face, wrinkle her nose, then shut her lips and refuse to open them. But she LOVES anything sweet. However, she finally started taking some squash and carrots but I had to mix some cereal and a spoon of apple sauce to get her to eat it. Any advice on how you've gotten your babies to eat the not so sweet stuff? Can we add salt to their food? In her defense I tried some of the veggies I pureed and without any flavor I too thought they were awful so I couldn't blame her!

  • No salt. It's important to keep sodium levels low.

I think all you can do is just keep offering.

  • Are you using store bought veggies or fresh? They taste a lot different so if you are using store bought maybe try making your own. My LO refuses to eat certain foods that are from the store, but she will eat them if I make it. Also, like the other ladies said try adding some spices! My LO loves the different flavors!

  • I had to do the same thiing. I mixed the veggies she didnt like with something she did like. she loves squash. so I would mix squash with carrots or green beans
  • Did you try sweet potatoes.. When first feeding we tried advocados.. that did not go over well. Her next food was sweet potatoes and she loved them. So much that to get her to eat other veggies I would mix them with the sweet potatoes.. now she eats other veggeis on their own.

MY LO is vice verse likes veggies.. fruits not so much has to have them mixed with oatmeal.

  • Have you tried recipes or just pureeing individually? I've been feeding DD earth's best and they have some great mixtures you could try yourself.
