DS got MMR and chicken pox vaccine yesterday and last night he started getting slight rash all over. Anyone else? I'm doubting myself for letting him get vaccines when he's just getting over being sick.
We were told that a slight rash/some pox after the chicken pox vaccine was normal. If it's concerning you or not what they told you to expect, I'd call your pedi or take him in just to double check. It can't hurt.
I was told a reaction can show 7 to 14 days after the shot and not any sooner. I would call your pedi and see what they say.
I agree with wishful. My pedi said the MMR vaccine is a slow acting virus meaning it takes over a week for your body to start recognizing and fighting it. If he just got the shot yesterday, I would think something else is causing the rash.
We had the MMR, but not chicken pox a few days ago and I was told to alert the pedi if a rash developed. With chicken pox, it's a live virus so maybe that's why? I would call your pedi to see if you need to bring him in. You didn't do anything wrong by having him vaccinated shortly after a minor illness. They have to be really sick at that time for the vaccine to be contraindicated.
