Light Pink Discharge/Cervical Mucus?

I am not bleeding bright red and heavy nor am I having major cramps but I am just concerned and would like to hear if anyone else has had any experience or knowledge in this...

This morning when I went to the bathroom and wiped, I noticed some light pink discharge/mucus on the toilet paper. It is not coming out on a panty liner but is still there if I feel for it (sorry TMI).

It is pink and hasn't changed color since this morning but I am still concerned. Does anyone know anything about this? Should I call my doctor in the morning?

  • I'm interested to hear any responses to this (espeically if people called their doc, what they did about it). I had this happen yesterday at work with a little bit of cramping associated with it. Not sure what the answer is? I have my prenatal appt tomorrow morning, so I personally didn't call.. but I might have otherwise.

  • I am also experiencing some cramping, nothing heavy. I am just sitting here praying that it doesn't turn into bleeding. First tri can be so scary.

  • I have read that the cramping is normal, I asked my doctor about it because it's been there constantly since about 4 weeks ago.

I also asked about the light pink discharge- I only get it after sweet lovin ;) but she told me that's nothing to worry about either.

     This is the strangest experience!

  • Did you have sex or strain for a bowel movement lately? The cervix is very sensitive and can lightly spot.

  • spotting can be brown, light pink, or bright red. i have been having some brown spotting today that is slowly decreasing, but it's also only there when i wipe and not coming out on a panty liner. my midwife said spotting is normal in first trimester, and to worry if it's bleeding as heavy as a period with cramping. but spotting still freaks me out i understand how you are feeling! you can call your dr for some reassurance. they may want to see you.
  • I got that the thursday before my U/S - no cramping. I called the nurse and she said it doesn't sound like an er worthy issue

  • Thanks, ladies! It seems to have subsided this morning so I am feeling a lot more hopeful.

  • FWIW, I went for my appt today and told my CNM about the pink spotting. She said she's not concerned at all, because it was brief and went away. She mentioned all the extra blood flow in the cervix, and that it was likely irritated because I was lifting something heavy. I had a decent amount of bleeding after my pap, too... so I may just have an extra sensitive cervix while pg.

Hope that helps a little bit!

  • I had some after a bowel movement and was concerned so I went to the er. After many hours and 2 u/s later it was diagnosed that I had a subchorionic hematoma. Meaning that there was a collection of blood between the tissues. Apparently many women can have this and it either bleeds out or resolves itself.
