Xp: talk to me about lip tied...

So ds never fully opens his top lip while feeding... it's always rolled in btw we use a shield ... And he dribbles milk constantly out the side when feeding. I read on the boarda about being lip tied so I googled and I believe he may have this as I checked today and it wraps around his gums... Pictures are similar.
We have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow. But I would like to know you experience with the procedure.. Were they in pain... Did it make feeding hard after.... How long was recovery ... Please share experience good or bad!! Thanks!!

The only problem we have had is he gets fussy at the boob and has symptoms of reflux since he is not getting a great latch each time. He is gaining weight fine and is doing great otherwise so that is why I am hesitant to have anything done.

From what I hear, when they are super little, they can clip it and you can start nursing right away. It is a lot thinner the younger they are. We didn't get my DD's clipped until she was over a year, and only did it then because of the way it was growing through her teeth. In many cases it won't even bother the way teeth grown in, except maybe a small gap. When she was that old, we had to put her to sleep for 15 minutes : ( But even then, after she woke up she drank a bottle and ate her oatmeal with in minutes. We are having major nursing problems because of DS's lip tie, and I am trying to get a ENT to clip it. One wants to wait, so I am getting a second opinion.
