We all have read about some obvious signs of labor, but were there any LESS OBVIOUS signs for you ladies that happened? Obviously, it's different for everyone, but I'm just really curious to hear some personal experiences.
I had contractions and a bulging water for 3 weeks before my son was born. I was uncomfortable but not to the point that I couldn't function. My OB's kept telling me to go home and have sex because I was on the cusp of active labor... so we had a ton of sex between 36 and 39 weeks. The night I hit 39 weeks sex felt different. Not painful but not comfortable either. About an hour later my water broke. I was laughing, joking, and FBing while in L and D. The nurses did their thing (it took about 40 minutes for them to get the paperwork done and get me set up) and told me to hit the call button if I needed anything. About 5 minutes later I called them in because I had to push- sure enough I was fully dilated. Honestly, if my water didn't break I would have never known that I was in labor. Needless to say, we are hoping this baby isn't born in our home or on the side of the road.
I had what I thought *might* be bloody show in the morning around 7. I was having infrequent contractions by 11:30a.m. and labor progressed slowly but surely... my son was born 24 hours later.
I had been having false labor for 2 solid weeks (I was 11 days past my due date). The morning I went into labor, I woke up with the usual false labor contractions, but I also had period-like cramps and diarrhea. It felt just like I was about to get my period, only much much worse. My water broke a few hours later, and the real contractions started. Hope that helps!
Re: Question for STMs! Labor signs.
This exact same thing happened to a good friend of mine!
I got the diarrhea too.... except it was on the delivery table!
