strawberries

i know you arent supposed to give them strawberries until a year, but do any of you feed them to your LO? DD has had some strawberry greek yogurt and was fine so I dont think she has an allergy, although im not sure if thats comparable to actually eating a strawberry. She is 9 months and i have some fresh strawberries in the fridge that i want to give to her tomorrow morning. Do you think i should wait, or go ahead and let her try them? Thanks!

Re: strawberries

  • They make stage 1 food with strawberries in it...So I don't see why not. I already have.

  • Strawberries are a high allergen food. Current recommendations are not to delay offering high allergen foods (they used to be to delay). If there's no familial history of allergies there's no reason to wait. I give DS strawberries pretty often. He loves them!

  • I'd personally wait, why take the risk. But if you really want to I say just pay super close attention to LOs reactions.

  • I actually was wondering this too, since I started mixing strawberries in with bananas for my son's food. I asked his pedi at his 6 month check up on what he can't have and he said 3 things-nuts, eggs and honey. Everything else is a go, with caution of course.
