Camping

Have any of you ladies gone tent camping with your little ones?  DH & I had planned on borrowing my grandparents RV over president's day weekend but they're headed out of town.  So we're trying to decide if we only want to go for the day or if we want to try tent camping. We could bring a small electric space heater but I'm concerned it may still be too cold at night for a tent.  Right now Friday's forecast says a high of 67 and low of 47.  Thoughts?

Re: Camping

  • IMO, 47 for an extended period of time (sleeping overnight) is too much...

we plan on doing some hard core camping this year, but we have a pop up, and plan of having a portable ac/heating unit with us...

  • I camped last year with lo but it was summer, I can say when it got down in the 60s at night it was colder than I wanted to have lo out in. I am a huge out side person and LOVE camping but that's too cold IMO.

  • Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, we had no heat or power for a week, and by the time it got down to 55 inside our house, we were all freezing and the baby was absolutely miserable and shivering, even with three layers of clothing and blankets.  We had to drive an hour away to stay with friends at that point because it was just too cold for her.  I would definitely not want to have my LO in a tent with it that cold at night.

  • Thanks ladies, this confirms what I was thinking. We will just have to go for the day.
