Birthday question??

So I know there have been a lot of birthday questions circling lately since we're all stumbling upon our LO's birthday. So I hate to be repetitve, but DH and I are planning a "Cookies and Milk Mustache" theme for LO's first birthday. I was only planning on doing a variety of cookies, mustache cookies, and cupcakes and obviously milk for the kiddos and probably lemonade or water for the adults. I guess it never occured to me to serve food since it is just a dessert themed party, but we were planning on doing it around noon which technically means we should serve a light lunch. What do you ladies think? Should I just move it until later in the day so then I can only serve sweets? What are all of you doing?

Re: Birthday question??

  • I'd just move the time rather than make extra food. I know that if I was invited to a party that was at noon and there was no real food, I would be shaky from the sugar and annoyed. So just move the time, less work, happy people. :)

Agree. If you don't mind cooking keep it at noon but have some lunch. If not, move the time. I think stll if I was at a party I wouldn't only want sweets. Maybe have some chips & dip, veggie tray, and little sanwhiches or hotdogs. If you have family ask them to bring a dish to help out.

  • Yeah, just move it up to 1 or 2 pm and people will not expect a meal.  That's what I did with both my boys' baptism receptions and thinking of doing with our bday party in March.  It's a cost saver and so much less of a headache to only serve dessert and drinks!  We usually have a veggie and/or fruit tray (MIL is always responsible for this) chips, pretzels, maybe a dip (my mom is usually responsible for this) along with dessert and drinks.
