this isn't a book but it's what we've considered trying. we tried it in the past but DD wasn't ready. it says it's for the family bed but the technique works fine (better!) if the baby is in another room.
I don't know what book was suggested but there is a section in the Sleep Lady Shuffle book that addresses night weaning. When I weaned C at 15 mos I just told her no when she woke up and asked for milk and then didn't take her out of her crib and just sat with her while she cried (which was only for a few minutes) and talked to her until she went back to sleep and after a few nights she stopped asking. I will say that she is still spotty on sleeping through the night, but now I can just go in, give her Elmo and tell her to lie down and put her blanket on and leave. Good luck.
